When it comes to brand name aftermarket stuff like Mann, Mahle, Bosch and the like its obvious that there are shitloads of fake chinkshit imitations out there. But what about genuine parts from a particular car maker? Are those in general faked a lot or not? Does anyone have any experienced with buying a genuine parts that turned out to be fake chinkshit? Im interested in genuine bmw parts in particular.

Imagine having shittiest unreliable car and then waste money to oem parts.

I suggest you try hengst filters and mayle HD (ONLY HD VERSION) parts if OEM/OE parts are not available. Yes mayle parts are not the best quality but they sure outlast aftermarket parts made in chink-land by a lot. I live in a low tier eu country where it's basically imposible to find any OE parts so it's all trial and error. Another option is to search for oldstock on Ebay (wish i did that while changing all 4 shock absorbers) or search for information on drive2.ru forum (great catalog for parts but you will need to use google translate)

The end-all be-all is computers. The first ones made are starting to fail en-mass. If you plan on keeping your car for such a time you need alternatives with more support. On something like my E92 I don't think it's possible, it will inevitably become a unfixable piece of shit due to its design. As for parts you just gotta get your feet wet with oem suppliers and take those risks, get your parts from somewhere you can easily get a refund/replacement on. it's not that bad in the short term. I don't see anything that's not carbureted - ie you can fix it with machine skills and metal stock - feasibly lasting more than 30-40 years.
