i have a 2005 jeep liberty that i got for free from my parents. been driving it for about 3 years, since then it has needed new tires, new shocks and struts, new transmission lines, new muffler, and this month i have to get the front end aligned so that the new tires wont warp. so far i have spent about 2300 on repairs alone, and new ones are coming up (rocker panel replacement, door rust etc) i have quite alot of money saved from my slave jobs since high school and am starting to genuinely question whether its worth it or not to purchase a new used car or continue putting money into this one.
>>28501256 (OP)you have to repair and maintain new cars too
>>28501266of course, is this make and model worth sinking this much money into though realistically? or are there better more reliable used cars out there?
>jeep liberty
i used to have a coworker who would talk about his jeep a lot...when he pulled up in the parking lot in one of these shitboxes one day it took everything i had not to say something
>>28501277you havent done anything yet you wouldnt have to do to any other car, <$1000/year is very inexpensive
>>28501256 (OP)It's old enough no harm in trying to DIY the body repairs. Modern structural adhesives don't require welding.
If you dont really care about getting something with better gas mileage id say just drive the liberty till the wheels fall off. I have a 2004 and its never given me any major problems, their super easy to work on and parts are cheap. $2300 to drive a car for three years is nothing.
