Just look up the Sabaru 1000.
Their entire brand identity stems from that car.

Imprezas are FWD with optional AWD in Japan only.

They used to be FWD with selectable 4WD, only to be used on loose/offroad surfaces up until the Leone/Loyale circa 1992. The hand brake on these also acts only on the front wheels.

Full time awd has become their entire brand identity, why would they ditch what makes them distinct in the minds of consumers?

The BRZ is RWD; but that makes sense to me since its a fun sports car.

I guess they could offer an even cheaper entry level FWD Subaru; but they're already competing pretty well with everything being AWD.

Other way around. The GR86 is a rebadged Subaru.

KYS you retard op. There are no good reasons for why Subaru should ever build FWD cars. Your reasoning "because everyone else does it" is the most idiotic reason you can ever say. Subaru has been and still is one the best affordable, fairly reliable AWD car manufacturer and thats what they should stay forever ,no matter what other car manufacturers do.

Yes, but he fuel injection system in BRZ is the D4S from Toyota/Lexus.

Yes if you have racing slicks and are a very competent driver or if you are drifting. Otherwise that's not an issue.

BMWs brand identity used to be manual and rear wheel drive, to the point where even their entry level hatchback was rwd.
Look at them now.
Everything is automatic and barely even the top models are rwd anymore, they all have xdrive like the M3 and M5.
