Hello, I would like to know your recommendations for the cheapest and most reliable car to get around in a medium sized city.

I would also appreciate tips on finding quality used cars. I want to find a gem in a shit mine, but obviously there are more experienced people out there who are going to fight me for it pretty easily.

>I just want something cheap and reliable.
That's what 95% of car buyers want. There are thousands of car models and variants and most are about equally reliable if maintained well.
You've got to give us more requirements, we can tell you if a specific car is unusually bad though.

I haven't driven much so I don't know what I want as far as feel.
I need it to be small (4 seater), reliable, and easily repaired and maintained in america. I like asian cars and dislike things like chargers or flashy convertibles. BMWs look great to me.
I don't think I can afford a lot of choice so

The problem is there are so many smallish 4 doors on the used market. Most would just tell you Corolla, Accord, RAV4, CR-V, or Camry because they're mass produced and usually good but used cars are heavily dependent on how they've been maintained and treated. Maybe some low-tier crossover like the Rogue? You've just got to scour what's on your local market for a while looking for a reasonable, but not too cheap, deal then looking up if the car has major known issues. I'd love to give you a better answer, but there are just so many cars.

>Easily repairable
Do you have any experience repairing cars?
>I like Asian cars. BMWs look good to me
It hurts

The only way he will get what he actually wants is having some mechanical knowledge. Otherwise he will most likely pay in one way or another unless he gets extremely lucky. But "cheapest" makes me think he has no money. What's your budget, kid?

I'd look at like an 01 to 06 Camry or Corolla. The early 00s Toyotas are very reliable, parts are abundant and cheap. Try to get one with under 150,000 miles.
