first-person-view-of-the-driver-behind-the-wheel-driving-a-fast-car-JPMMXW
What's the most terrifying thing that's happened to you while driving?
>driving with my windows down through a neighborhood
>feel something hit my back very lightly
>must have been an acorn or something
>15 minutes later or so, on the freeway now
>sudden sharp pain in my back
>I'm getting stung by a fucking hornet
Glad I didn't cause an accident
Total hornet death

Years ago after buying my first car, a 1998 Explorer sport, I was driving to college and went to blow my nose with one hand while going around a deceptively normal curve on the highway, I ended up hitting the median in just such a way that the front wheel rode up on it, bounced off, and nothing actually got damaged.
Problem is, I didn't know that the car wasn't damaged, so the entire rest of the way to college I was driving in pure fear with both hands holding the wheel for dear life because in my mind I was just picturing the entire front left end of the car being all scronched up.

Oh, if only I had known that all the problems that car would have would be centered squarely under the hood...

>still fairly new driver, probably only been driving a year or two
>driving on local road
>2 lanes, with a separating median
>18 wheeler making a left turn in the left turn connector lane
>tail end of his trailer is slightly crooked
>looks good.gif
>pass without adjusting my course
>as I'm driving past the catch bar whizzes past my window
>realize that the trailer was way too close for comfort and I should have moved over a little
Thankfully the car didn't get scratched or damaged, nor did I get lobotomized but I reckon there was only about 2-6 inches of space between my A pillar and disaster. I take it a little wider when I pass other vehicles now.

I remember the first time I saw a black (as the ace of spades) African, sometime in the seventies. It was probably twenty years later before I saw another. I think the second guy was on a CBX750.

I dozed off and nearly fell asleep in heavy traffic, it was a miracle that I didn't ram into the guy in front of me.
Immediately parked at the nearest gas station and took a nap right there and then.

Having someone fly OVER me in shifter karts. I was experiencing lean bogs during left hand corners due to incorrect float height in the carb, and paid for it when the guy behind me tried to take advantage in what should never have been a passing spot. Open wheel riding on top of open wheel = team rocket is blasting off again. Fortunately we both stayed right side up but fuck me I do not wanna experience that ever again.

>Driving on a rural country road in aussie land
>have been driving pretty fast and am currently driving fast
>ordinary car behind me suddenly puts on police red and blue lights
>shit myself and think i'm getting pulled over
>he just overtakes me and zooms off somewhere, probably someone getting murdered or something

Idk how long he had been behind me and if he was waiting to get me for as much speed as possible or something

other time
>Driving in perth city (speed limit is 40kmh) with my grandma in the passengers seat
>homeless dude is standing in the island in the middle of the road
>about to drive past him when he suddenly dashes across the road and i almost hit him
He's lucky i was looking directly at him, if i'd been slightly distracted even just looking into the rearview mirror or something i'd have hit him

>2 passed out in back seat
>passenger is also wired, his job will be to keep me awake
>5 minutes down the highway hes passed out
>all alone
>long dark stretch, no more street lights, no other cars
>so dark, so quiet
>rumble strips wake me up
>heart has never beat this hard before
>at least i wont fall asleep again

My commute used to include a certain road, which back then was 3 lanes wide. It was a 2 way road, the middle lane would change directions depending on the time of day. City-bound during morning peak and suburbs-bound during the afternoon.
>coming home from work one day
>round the corner onto the 3 lane road, up a hill
>take the center lane because the slow lane is being slow
>going up the hill towards a bend
>round the bend to see a big fuck off delivery van in my lane going down the hill
>heart rate instantly over 9000

Lucky he was actually looking at the road not his phone and immediately got out of my lane. I was seconds away from being a meat smoothie.

>Heading to visit family for the weekend
>Driving step moms Olds Alero coupe to piss her off
>Snow storm the night before but roads have been well plowed
>Hop on expressway, all 4 lanes clear w/minimal traffic
>Passing everyone for miles in left lane barely going 65, everyone else doing 50
>Get to winding section of expressway coming up on the interchange I need to take
>SUV flying up behind me through sweeping left turn
>Pulls up on my right and matches speed
>Need to slow down to get behind them so I can get over to my exit in a mile
>They slow down with me boxing me in
>WTF?
>Sweeping right hand turn up ahead
>Oh shit, there's a snow drift across the left 2 lanes
>Too late to slow down any further
>Hit snow and the rear end starts sliding
>Try to steer through the slide but ass end comes completely around barely missing the divider
>Now sliding backwards while facing oncoming traffic
>See SUV plow straight into the divider before riding it down the wall
>Realize I'm still counter steering and going backwards across 4 lanes of traffic
>Ass first up a snow covered grass hill before spinning again
>Slide back down the hill onto the shoulder facing the direction I need to go
>See 3 or 4 more cars pinball off the center divider
>Get out and check car, no obvious damage
>Continue on my trip

>heading home on short stretch of interstate
>signal to move to left lane
>just as I'm moving over a shirtless dude on a crotch rocket blasts by me doing probably 100mph
>followed shortly by several state troopers in hot pursuit
if I'd moved to the left lane just a bit more abruptly it would have been a horrifying crash and i would have saved them the trouble

>live in $STATE
>state has a bunch of poorly designed roads, especially near shopping centers
>driving to vatozone for wiper blades and some other car items
>the autozone is right at the entrance to the shopping center, separate from all the other stores
>essentially it's on outside of the road you take when your store is on the other side of the lot and you don't want to deal with the pedestrians
>not very familiar with the entrance to the shopping center
>the entrance has an intersecting road on the right, with a stop sign perpendicular to the entrance road (take note), then another intersection for the rest of the lot
>must be the entrance to the 'zone
>did I mention the shopping center is right off of a pretty busy road
>I am now on a partially curved single lane road and there's the front of a bunch of cars
>I just turned onto the exit
>facing the wrong way
>drive as right as possible and make the hairpin turn onto the correct side of the road
>get to autozone and just sit in the parking lot for a while as I calm down
Thankfully no cars came nor were there any police or anything, so everything turned out ok, but goddamn that needs to be a "Do Not Enter" sign, the stop sign's not even on the right side of the road. The best way I can describe it is:
If you're facing the intersection the stop sign is where opposing traffic's stop sign should be. And of course the road markings are all worn down there too.

was taking a big sippa at the time so i pretty much felt like pic related

>On a 4 lane road in left lane
>They suddenly jump to the right lane narrowly missing a stopped car infront of them
>Going my speed my heart sinks as I also narrowly dodge that car by immediately going to the right lane
