I've lived in norcal and socal and I've always had an internal speed limit of 80mph on the highways. That being said, its not unusual to hit 100 passing someone when there isn't any traffic. What is the actual speedlimit where a cop will pull you over in California?

If you're being a danger to traffic or if it's the end of the month and they need to hit their "performance goals".

They really only seem to ding you if you're driving like an asshole, not necessarily for speeding.

They can pull you over whenever they feel like it if you're going more than 7mph over the speed limit. The main thing is just making sure you blend in with all the other cars so they don't feel like pulling you over.
