The paint on my car is very weathered and has rust showing through as well as cracks down to metal.
Is there some sort of spray on detailer or wax or chemical I can put on it for some temporary protection?

youtube has a few answers to this, the cheapest is vinyl floor polish. i'll be doing it to mine soon. apparently the floor polish will last you 6-12months depending on how you store the car etc.
