Who are these people? Can they really afford this or are they stretching themselves extremely thin? $1,000 most most people is pretty steep for a fucking car. Is everyone buying expensive cars or what?

i took on a 1k car payment back in 2021 when i was able to get a rate that was lower than the (at the time) crazy high inflation. but then inflation came back down so i made a big payment to principal and then added another 1k to my monthly payments until it was paid off. i guess that would be pretty steep for most people but like your image shows, most people (80%) aren't doing that. the 20% that are are likely making enough money to not notice it too much.

for years I was putting 1k away from my paycheck every month for savings. then I used it for the down payment on a house and most of that 1k spare gets eaten up by my mortgage.
but if I'd had different financial priorities I could still be renting and have a much newer snazzier car. I don't even make 6 figures so I don't think it's all that hard for your average person to decide to have a 1k car payment.

Good god. I'd rather have a vega, at least I'd control the damn thing. I could buy 4 really nice low-mile vegas for that too. Could drive one while the other 3 get head gaskets and rust repair and I'd still come out on top.

The average powertrain warranty is 5 yr (60 month) or 60,000 miles. I listened to a guy talk about how car manufacturers want to get rid of the concept of a 3rd owner. Basically someone buys (or leases) a new car and trades it in around the end of the warranty period to get another new car. The second owner buys the traded in car and runs it to 100,000 miles when the car becomes junk amd has to buy another trade in. That's why cars are barely making past warranty periods the last 5 years or so.
I'm not sure how these new car buyers are going to afford two years worth of negative equity though with each new purchase. The system is completely out of whack.

It's not "nothing" even if you make 100K

For example, if you live in a HCOL area like Californicate, 100K post-tax is ~60K. That's 4K monthly. 1K is a quarter of all your money. Probably have a 3K mortgage. That doesn't even leave money for food, insurance, bills. Don't forget Ameritards are spending 1K a month on Netdix subshittions and Starfucks coffees and other nonsense.

In 2025, 100K is the new minimum income level to have a basic life in America. This is why women expect men to make six figgaz minimum now, they unconsciously known this on an intuitive level.

I see a lot of top trim levels cars around. The manufacturers don't make very many low trim level options to force buyers into paying for a bunch of shit they don't actually want/need. This can up the monthly payment by a lot, trim level bullshit usually runs the bill up 5-10k minimum. Dealers are not giving deals anymore either, they want above sticker price. Just buy used, I got 10k off my car by buying used and it's only 2 years old.
