The Caddy prototype? All those LMH cars are hybrids with full race-spec engines that don't like to idle very low, so they suck at pitlane speeds. But because there's a whole electric drivetrain on board, they can roll in and out of the pits on electric power, get up to speed, dump the clutch and essentially bumpstart themselves.

Pretty cool. Regulations for power capacity must be pretty lax to juice rolling around like it does

They've got a maximum of 200kW (268hp) for the hybrid system and a maximum total power output of 500kW (670hp), and there's some regulations about at what speeds they can deploy the hybrid system, but other than that it's basically anything goes. No limits on displacement or engine configuration as long as you get it above the minimum weight.

What were they thinking?

LMH rules only exist because of Aston's input. Covid utterly raped their finances which put them 4 years behind in development.

They ran a hybrid version this year, didn't they? And I guess there's Glickenhaus and >Vanwall running non-hybrids too.

Nope. Hybrid system was removed, and both the Glick and Vanwall/ByKolles aren't racing.

Even still, i don't think you can even fit an Hybrid system in that chassis without making significant modifications, which might as well become another car.

>>28516676
They tecnically have a "hybrid system", but it's only to launch the car, in a race it's just the V12 giving power.
