lots of interesting things from an engineering perspective. they need to make a 4 door in the v2 design ASAP.
one big turd from that interview is that they are using a Chinese motor from JJE. why couldn't they get a motor from Tesla. Ford/GM or whatever that's made in the US?

>Where have all the 2 door basic trucks gone?

Basically why 2 door single cab trucks went away.

I’m seeing this as a way for chink ev(s) to enter and then dominate the US car/truck market.

It will be the Chinese century! China will grow larger.

two doors don't sell in 2025. if you look at the 11k new Tacomas on lots right now, there's 100 two doors. Nobody wants them, so if you only budget for one body style, you go for four doors. that's why Ford and GM don't even bother.

Never heard of it but I like the lines. Shame about it being an EV, I'd love a standard diesel pickup with that kind of look.

The entire premise of Slate was and still is "make the cheapest truck out of the cheapest parts and shill it on /o/". Chinkshit motor is cheaper, that's all.

Does this even meet crash safety standards? There's barely any room for a crumple zone and no real front bumper.

It's particularly bad with the Slate, IMO, because most people that DO buy "regular" cabs these days get them because it means a longer bed. The Slate is the worst of both worlds in that regard and I don't see it appealing to the sorts of people that buy RCSB half tons since those are almost always bought as "performance trucks" with V8s as a big selling point.

wrong
no one buys sclbs. ford doesn't even offer it anymore. scsb is actually the more common option.

They do on work trims.
They don't actually make a single cab short bed, and I'm not sure they ever have. The bed on the "SCSB" trucks is actually the 6.5' mid bed that would normally be on an extended cab truck, not the crew cab's 5.5'. The Slate's bed, on the other hand, is 5' even, the same size you'd normally get on a midsize crew cab.
