I'm from a shithole called Jordan. My 09 Camry has 260K miles on it rn and I want something a little different; it still doesn't have mechanical issues if you're curious, and i do abuse this thing.

budget: 30K JOD (~40k USD).

2018 prado is good, although v6 ones are very hard to come by so if I get it, it will be an inline 4 one, we don't have diesel variants.

- fast , 350 hp
- I'm familiar with that power train and know what goes wrong (nothing)
- reliable
- rwd
- no one knows what that thing is
- cheaply available <10-15K USD>

cons:
- old
- interior feels really old
- never gonna resell as it's too old and no one knows it
- I won't be able to find parts

Thanks anon, I did consider the rav4, the old ones are too old, the new ones don’t really do anything, not cool, can’t offroad. The just offer a nice ride with great economy. At that point i can just fixup my camry and keep driving it.

We have the best food, cool places, and are nice to tourists. If you're going go alone not with a tourism group, guides are shit and get payed to take you to shitty restaurants. you can google anything you need and pretty much everyone speaks english.

It would be fun if you rent your car and travel on your own, totally safe as long as you don't wander into the desert.

Stay somewhere near 1st circle in amman, you can google it. You can find lots of airbnbs and hotels there, its very nice and tourist friendly, with lots of restaurants , pubs, old markets, and tourist areas. From there just uber anywhere in amman, cabs will scam you.

Also rely on google reviews for restaurants, any restaurant that looks old, has seatings and good google reviews is pretty much a guaranteed hit.

Some specific recommendations<in order>:
- Jordan Heritage restaurant

- Majdoline
- Um khalil
- bab el yemen
- ard al fukhar
- almousli

You also have to see petra, here you have 2 options: rent a car for the trip and use google maps, you can choose to travel via the dead sea route which has some nice sites, this will be a 3 hour drive, then from there you can head to aqaba and stay there for a night (this is our port city) which has a beach and some nice sea food, the desert mountainous terrain around is spectacular.

You can also take this trip with a tour (easy to find on google), usually a two day trip with a stay in wadi rum, whoch you can’t visit on your own.

Apart from that there are a couple of old crusader castles still intact, Ajloun castle which you can visit either uber from amman, and Karak castle which is bigger but probably too remote for you to go there by yourself.

Also r/Jordan are friendly and will answer your queries.
