>>28511536 What truck would that be? >>28511537 Absolutely want to avoid the 10-speed abomination and the Ecoboost 3.6L engine. >>28511563 Thanks Croc >>28511605 Ouch, 10-12mpg city / highway - that hurts. Plus 2500 is total overkill. Any suggestions in the medium sized truck market?
>>28511631 any GMT800, or 2500 GMT900 Silverado/Sierra. Easy way to tell if an LS based V8 has active fuel management/displacement on demand is to look under the intake manifold and see if the valley plate is flat or lumpy. You don't have to take anything off to see. Flat is what you want to see for non-AFM.
>>28511522 (OP) Absolutely amazing trucks. Dad has one and its a goodie. Pretty easy to work on still.

>>28511522 (OP) The naturally aspirated Coyote 5.0l V8 engine has been one the best reliable engines from Ford since 2011-2020. The newest generation (Gen4) with the cylinder deactivation is one that might be good idea to avoid.

>>28511522 (OP) Its a solid choice. I would also look at king cab Frontier (for the longer bed), it basically ran unchanged for 15 years so parts are easy to find and cheap
>>28511710 That's why you go for a 2500 GMT800. You get a godly LQ4, a 4L80E and a full floating rear. That's a super solid combo. Just look around and take note of how many you still see on the roads working hard.
