I don't really understand all the hate for this car.
>iT lLoOkS lIkE a PrIuS
it doesn't. it looks more like an FT86 from the a-pillar back, and has Porsche styling queues from the grill and rear tail light bar. That being said, its not a really pretty car but its certainly not ugly either. I also think the back of a prius looks great.

The real reason people hate this car is because its not a 350hp manual rear wheel drive for $25,000. Once again enthusiasts hating on it for autistic and errant reasons. Anyone's guess if it'll sell much volume to compete with other 2-door cars.
>>28512723
This guy gets it. The car isn't pretending to be something it isn't and never wanted to be.

>n-1 generation was better
Yet we only see 1 anon with a prior gen prelude. Kinda telling people who don't own an old one, won't buy an old one, never owned an old one are upset about this car they had no intention of buying anyway.

yeah you and maybe a 1000 others per month. those cars just dont sell. the supra is all of those things and only sold around a 300 units last month. cheap sports cars are what is needed to revive the driving passion but there are huge hurdles to overcome. EPA restrictions on mpg vs footprint, interested buyers not having money, money having buyers not being interested (see every cuck utility vehicle), low profit margins.

didn't the BBB just remove those regulations? I honestly don't know and /pol/ can't seem to point at it for crayon eaters (me) can understand it.
>interested buyers not having money, money having buyers not being interested
Me. I wanted a single cab 4x4 F150 with a Coyote V8. $48,000 and its rather cheap inside. Plus everyone has one and mods are thousands of dollars.
Look at Miatatas: $40k for a car that gets bested by minivans and you look like a gay hairdresser in one.
okay how about a mustang GT? Same price as the F150 somehow, more if you get options everyone wants.
Cool, guess I'm considering BRZs, $38k for a slower hard-top miata.

There isn't much else in the hot hatch, liftback, or 2 door inexpensive tuner car market because they didn't sell well anyway.

the supra is also like 60 grand
the dark horse mustang is 80 when you configure a spec someone would actually buy
under 50k would be a cheap sports car for that kind of spec
or they could go and build it like a brz competitor with high revving 4 banger starting at the mid/high 20s with the top spec under 40
i make a p good salary and i can't justify 60k+ for a supra but for under 50 i'd buy that with an i6 or for under 40 i'd buy it with something that revs like crazy

sports cars are the price they are because of low volume sales. low volume sales are because the price of sports cars. it's a self eating snake. sports car buyers also are very hard to please but, the cheaper the OEMs can make it, the more willing the buyer is to live with a lower powered or lower specced car.

bingo
exactly why i have an elantra n and not an acura type s
meanwhile hyundai keep making 60k+ electric performance cars instead of cheap sports cars, honda's like look at our hybrid "lifestyle coupe" while discontinuing the type r (which cost fucking 50 grand), and toyota have to keep partnering with other companies on performance cars because they can't afford to develop proper in house engines for them

That makes sense. But its somewhat confusing because when cheap sports cars like the BRZ go on sale, they sell well. Is that because of Toyota's manufacturing scale that can make cheap cars cheap enough to make up for lower volume? Also I assume Mazda as well?

why would I be happy about one of the few affordable 2 doors on the market being a wrong wheel drive mcdonalds auto only turd when I can go next door to subaru, toyota, or mazda and get one for similar money that at least powers the correct wheels and has a manual option (albeit only one of those will have front double bones)

Because when fun cars come out theres inevitably pissing and moaning about how it doesn't have an LSD, or 6 speed manual, or I6 with 400 horsepower, or its too tall, or too low, its too expensive, its uhhh too rare and dealerships have markups for the first month on a car I can't afford abloobloobloo.

Remember the release of the BRZ?
>too slow, too small, too cheap, not good looking
Supra?
>no manual, costs too much, not really a toyota
Corvette?
>too expensive, not front engine, temu ferrari, lol V6
400Z?
>no LSD, it costs as much as a mustang (too much), Datsun quality
Slate truck?
>not 4 doors, doesn't have 900 miles of range, can't tow a bulldozer, too expensive
Maverick?
>Not BoF, doesn't have 500 horsepower, can't tow, inflation and improvements made it $28k (too expensive) and used half tons are somehow better than a brand new vehicle, not 4-door (lol)

They gave up on sports cars because they're for enthusiasts, who, as a group, have no fucking concensus on what makes them happy, or they want shit that simply isn't reasonably possible anymore. No, you cannot have a 3000lb 6-speed manual with 400+ horsepower for $40k anymore. This isn't 1998.

other than the trucks, the BRZ, supra, Miata, Corvette, 400z, mustang, prelude, and every other similar car DO appeal to the same buyers. 2 door coupes with good fun in mind. They're certainly at different price points, but I can still point at the overlap and even direct competitors.
