Even though they're a lot worse cars than they used to be, BMW has somehow retained its status as a sort of aspirational car. I (unfortunately) work with a lot of Indians at my day job, and every single one goes to lease a new BMW the moment they get their first big boy paycheck

Worse than what exactly? The G chassis vehicles with the B48/58 + ZF8 are the fastest and best handling cars BMW has ever made. By modern standards they're as reliable as it gets outside of Toyota/Mazda/Honda. And no, a 1990 320i doesn't outhandle a new 3 Series

- perfected UX with iDrive and it works really well on a huge screen
- most models have distinct(ly autistic), but not chinky gauche car designs unlike merc
- reasonable option configuration
- completely base entry level cars are still great and sporty
- colors outside of grayscale/red/blue are available for base models
- the dealers actually participate in car shows
