The VTEC on the CB400SF (Spec III and Revo) pretty much make it feel like a docile smaller displacement bike under 6000 RPM, above that it surges and becomes alive.
It's not really 'proper VTEC' and is more of a fuel economy thing but it's still quite fun to mess around with, I've seen people mod it to be toggled by a switch.
As far as I'm aware the older specs were more restrictive in the application of the VTEC.

Any other anon tried one?

Last night my wife and son were walking the dog when a older lady walked by with her tiny dog
My dog went apeshit and busted out of my sons hands and jumped up on the lady, knocking her down and biting her dog.
Didnโ€™t bite hard enough to break the skin but enough to traumatize the little dog, which ran away while my son took our dog inside.
My wife follows the old lady to find her dog and make sure everything is ok, while the old lady heaps abuse on my wife and our dog.
They get to the ladyโ€™s back yard find her dog and then the lady says โ€œwait a second does your husband ride a motorcycle?โ€
My wife silently curses, expecting more abuse, and says โ€œyesโ€
>oh, heโ€™s such a kind man!
They exchanged numbers and Iโ€™m gonna bring some tiny dog treats over later for her dog.
Thinking about euthanizing my dog bc she canโ€™t handle other dogs but my kids love her and sheโ€™s a great pet otherwise
What should I do?
Sheโ€™s a mutt about 60-70 lbs

Why is the first thing I've ever seen a Buell Hammerhead in a Northern Tool + Equipment ad I got after a YouTube short my mom sent me?
Did Buell choose to partner with Harbor Freight 2.0 or did someone making the ad just have one of the first orders? I'm a little shocked.

Is anybody here familiar with the Bandit 1200? From what I gather it's 97 through 2000, then 2000 through 2005 or so, then it's a 1250 after that but we didn't get them in america. I'm an experienced rider(8 years and easily 50k+ miles)and for whatever reason I might want to try El Bandito Grande for my next bike.

Also someone plz buy this badass 883 I'm trying to sell.

Either take it to a training school to get that nigger behavior trained out of her, or put her up for adoption with clear disclosure of her behavior issues so somebody better can help her. If you're seriously thinking about euthanizing a dog because your kid can't hold the fucking leash, then you don't deserve to own a dog.

I had a 600. Brakes and suspensions are better than you'd think for a bargain bin bike. The 1200 is a torque monster, it's relatively light for what it is. I read about some 1200-specific carb issues but should be okay if maintained. Tons of them in Europe with 60k+ miles. If you don't mind the look of them go for it.
I sold my 600 because it was a barn find with warped valves. I miss it quite often.

Yeah, I'm fixing whatever I can on the bikes so when parts finally find their way to my post box, I can get them back on the road.
I'm this close on just grabbing a car pushrod and cutting it to size for my Moto Guzzi so I can get on with the program.

nah i agree i don't want to, it's just hard to tell how serious it is because in the last 2 years we owned her it's only been bad like this a few times. like my inlaws came to the door a couple months ago, and one of them had a dog on a leash on the driveway. when I went to open the door, my dog burst out and started wailin' on their dog before i could get her.
if my kids answer the door, or if my dog got out and attacked a dog that was being walked by an old lady or a kid, it is a big deal. the humane society we adopted her from (when she was like 18mos old) didn't mention any of her dog socialization issues, obviously.
she gets along pretty good with our cat but it took a couple months for an uneasy peace to become normal, so that is hopeful.
i told my wife, since she was the one that adopted our dog, that she's either got to get serious about behavior training or put her up for adoption/re-homing/whatever it's called. so that's how we're gonna roll.
thanks for the feedback bros you guys are alright

Was supposed to got ride Palomar with Harley buddy but he had to turn around half away because we took the long way there with all the silly fun roads. Still had a good time with him.
Met up with scooter buddy on Palomar and had an enjoyable slow ride up. Then we went to a few dealerships so he could get an idea on what kinda big boy bikes he feels most comfortable on.
Next day we rode back into town the long way and looked at Vstrom which he seems to feel really comfortable on. Heโ€™s gonna see an NC700X late today and a 310GS next week and decide which he wants.
All in all things didnโ€™t go as planned but I still had a great weekend anyways, which is one of my favorite parts about riding. Even if you fall off course youโ€™re still gonna have a good time

Heavy bikes kind of make their own way down the road, you tell them what you have in mind and they will reciprocate.
In tight spaces you plan your way in and out like you would a car.
Somewhere out there is a copy of Honda turn key GL1000 racing.
Someone find it.

Wow that was a difficult stretch. 180km of a barely ADV tier loop, single and double track the whole way - any bike heavier than a T7 could not have done the full run. Took us 12 hours, we saw 3 moose, I crashed hard leaping out of the 3rd 10ft tall washout, and we ran out of water even after we refilled from a creek. The day was roughly 12 hours long and we were both barely conscious by the time we got back. Webms soon(ish)

In your experience, is it enough to ride solo with only a front tube, or do you carry both rear and front tubes always? I wish I had tubeless and could just patch, but that's not currently an option for this bike.

My first bike was a CB400, sold it in 2021.
VTEC is fun but honestly the noise was the biggest impact. You can feel a bit of change in power, it starts to rev more quickly and freely, but it's not a dramatic difference. For example, if you hit VTEC mid corner it's not going to upset the bike. And then when you're running hard you get into VTEC quickly (~6k RPM) and stay there.
Here's a video of me riding it, I spend most the time above 6k rpm.

There wind blast on this bike is ridiculous for a supersport. I don't know what it is, but it's just so much worse than other supersports.
The downside of owning multiple bikes is that it takes a few rides to get readjusted and feel confident of you haven't ridden one of them in a while.
I know, I should cry much harder over it.

I think the main problem is they're advertised as more 'off-roady' than they actually are. Don't get me wrong, a skilled rider can take it far. But these are heavy ADV bikes now. The new KLR is heavier than a Tenere 700 or a Transalp. I bet a lot of people buy one, drop it once or twice off-road, and when they pick it up and feel that weight think 'fuck this, I'm getting a smaller bike'. Or they get something more road focused. Just my suspicion.

I think a lot of it is the lack of highway performance that you expect from a full-size ADV. People see the fairing, the factory luggage, etc. and think they're getting a deal on a touring bike, and then ride them for a while and realize that they've actually bought an obese dual sport that isn't much good at it.

Yeah I'm actually converting everything to LED except the headlight. Mainly I want to have brighter lights on the dash since it's hard to see the fuel light and the neutral light in the daytime, and it's hard to see the speedo and trip meter at night, because they're all extremely dim. But I got amber LEDs for all of them to maintain the warm vintage dash feel. And went ahead and ordered LEDs for the turn signals while I'm at it. I will also be able to stick the extras in my VFR750 dash.

I am not replacing the main headlight because I couldn't find a good LED bulb that has the same warm color as the incandescent bulb while also seeming the same shape as the OEM one. Definitely not going to put that cold blue crap in a tu250x. But also, the headlight is the main power draw and I'm not adding heated grips yet so I want to keep it to have a balanced power system. When you "save power" by having LED lights, the stator still generates the same amount of power, and if the battery is full your rectifier just gets hot to waste the extra juice. So you aren't really saving any power. All the heat you're not generating inside the light fixtures is just getting generated inside the rectifier instead and melting it.

Take a motorcycle safety course regardless of what first bike you want to get. I'd say that's a good starting point, and you can decide if you want one of the 125s or maybe bigger.

If you've got rider Friends buy some cones and go to a parking lot with them to learn basic control.
Don't get the monkey as it's overpriced beyond shit and you will drop it learning, get a grom or something cheap.
For street riding make sure to pick up good habits like anticipation and blind spot checking.

Wanted black pushrod tube grommets, but they were out of stock, went with whatever was available, only for the black ones to restock immediately after I placed my order.

Also love working on Urals compared to BMWs.
There is no fancy tool for removing and installing the pushrod tubes on urals unlike on BMWs, you just smash them in with a sledge.

>polaris
Idk, we only have our anecdotes. Anecdotally, Iโ€™ve liked riding them from time to time given the opportunity
If you mean royal enfield, a billion indians ride them on complete garbage roads every day all year, if you think you can handle the same ownership experience as a โ€œmiddle classโ€ Indian in Bombay or wherever then go for it

Why am I allowed to have multiple bikes and multiple cars, but not one of these things because of "safety"?
It's orders of magnitude safer than my bikes, especially in the rain.

I donโ€™t know about this car, probably junk, but I agree generally, the existence of motorcycles makes all the car safety laws seem extremely ridiculous
Iโ€™d even be happy to take a โ€œdangerous car licenseโ€ exam. Surely all the guys making three wheelers that require motorcycle licenses would rather just make cars

Is the difference between the SP2 and SP1 noticeable enough to justify its bigger price tag?

I unironically prefer the SP1 for its black frame but accept the lack of refinements. I plan to get an SP1 and mount the SP2 swingarm and fueling system
Alternatively been toying with the idea of hunting down a 05' final year for the best of both worlds.
