I kinda want to try a weebshit shitbox, I have owned mercs and bmws so far, I want something simpler to fuck around with, not worry about it getting scratched or me driving up a curb to park it, budget is like 1000 euros lol
thoughts on the opel agila? its based on the suzuki wagon R+, looks fun

Buy the Wagon R+
The Agila really really fucking sucks, if it's windy and a truck passes by the thing wants to tip over, at least the Wagon is 4x4 and can keep up with traffic

the wagon r is euro shitbox as well, it was produced in hungary for most
Or the swift. The swift is a surprisingly dependable car, they might be no the most sophisticated but they are very low maintenance yet very reliable
If you crave fun, you can have a swift sport, these are honest fun cars

Completely different drivetrains, although the body and interior are the same.
t. friend owns an Agila and has been scouring local junkyards for Agilas and WagonR+s for OEM upgrades

Agila and Wagon R+ are identical safe for the engine (both have Suzuki transmissions)
Wagon R+ was available with AWD and a more powerful engine, but most of them are FWD and just as gutless as the Agilas. But then the Agila came with a optional large sunroof
So they're pretty much the same aside from rare variants, just buy whatever is for sale near you
Decent alternative to an old Twingo because they're equally cheap in every aspect, practical for the size, interesting looking and pretty robust

I would recommend kei-based Daihatsus: Cuore, Trevis and Copen
Unlike the widened Wagon R they're properly kei sized and a bit lighter too. Also known to be very reliable

Seconding the Daihatsus. My parents had a Cuore ('03 I think) and that thing is peak micro-shitbox.
It's short, narrow and has a really small turning circle. Really good visibility. Weirdly enough, actually usable rear seats with a lot of leg room. Doors are thin, short (four-door) and open 90°. You won't find a car that's easier to find a parking space for. Hardly any trunk though.
Weighs nothing, so it accelerates well and sips gas. All while being really reliable.
Downside is comfort is limited and once speed gets into the three-digit range the handling deteriorates quickly. Going over 130 is not recommended.
