A good interior material needs to be well insulating and good looking, and wood ticks those boxes.
It is also nice if it is economical, and wood ticks that box too. And also ticks the 'does not decompose in a hot sun' box as well.
And if you *do* need a performance material with insulating properties, well, you can take any source of woody material, dissolve the lignin, and sinter it to polymerize the cellulose, leaving you with an extremely strong densified material in the desired shapes.
