Hey O,
I bought a 2007 CR-V LX with just over 100k on the engine.
I am wanting to make some upgrades pictured below.
A: Rear View Mirror with back-up camera.
B: Pillar mounted monitor for OBD-II data (probably a pyOBD raspberry pi build)
C: Single/Double din Carplay/Android Auto for streaming music and maps
Has anyone done this, especially B?
If so, are there recommendations availble? most of what I've seen is just recommending random chinese shit with a bunch of reviews talking about the equipment not working after X months of use.
I want upgrades that will last and not be shit.

The rear view mirror camera will kinda suck and it's better to just have the backup camera on the larger radio screen

I was hoping that wasn't the case.
I wanted a dash cam type set-up that can record forward and rear while also being a rear view.
I figured that we're far enough ahead in auto tech that this would be a thing, since it's basically just combining a bunch of things we already have.

Not OP but having the carplay unit and backup camera on my 1st gen highlander has been fantastic. The guy who owned it before me put them in, along with remote start. I put in a dash cam. Shit is so cash

every time I drive a car with one of these at work I think they fucking suck. Like the other anon said having the reverse camera on the head unit screen is much better

>C: Double din car display

Its going to be a lot cheaper for you to just have the backup camera display on the double din media unit.

Okay. I am scrapping the back up camera in the rear view.
I thought the dash cam integration was a good idea, but it sounds like it's a waste.

You can get a mirror that does exactly what you just typed out, but it won't have a legible dash cam, the actual rear view mirror bit will be meh at best for a backup camera due to its size, and it will probably break from heat pretty quickly if you actually use your car during the day. You'll have better luck getting a good dash cam and powering it with the same 12v tap you'd use for the digital mirror, plus a separate backup camera setup (maybe even rig surround cameras if you're feeling fancy)

I'm thinking about this bad boy for the double din.
It allows for front and rear cameras, so maybe there's a solid dashcam app for carplay.

There are all sorts of things you can plug into the OBD port to get live data and they're cheap. I've used a ScanGauge 2 for over a decade.

Nice pickup anon. Check the front suspension and the brakes. I have an 08 that I use for camping and roadtrips. Replace the crappy OEM speakers. Makes a big difference. I bought my HU from crutchfield during one of their sales a few years ago and haven't had any issues. BE7ACP-C that came with a backup camera. I plan to pass it to my daughter in the future. Really like it.
