I see lifted trucks in parking lots all the time. Do most lifted truck owners lift trucks personally, or do they pay a shop for it? I wanna lift my Wrangler to fit big tires like picrel. No mechanic knowledge, beyond learning how to change oil and swap tires. No jack, and landlord forbids vehicle maintenance on the property. Am I gonna have to overpay at a shop?

it's incredibly simple to do but there are nuances (pinion angle, offset, bump stopping, fender trimming, drop pitman arm) along with more involved shit like regearing and upgrading brakes because now you want to put fuckhuge tires on it.
realistically you should be able to install a lift kit by yourself or with 1 helper for some of the pieces. Would def do it in a garage or shed though because you will not finish it in a weekend your first time.
my first xj wouldve taken about 4 days but then a rear leaf spring bolt broke and that really screwed the timing up. I still have a piece of that fuckin bolt to remind me.

I assume your just larping as an off-roader, so just bolt on a body lift - they're a lot easier and cheaper than doing a proper lift.

the Camel Trophy entrants didn't lift their trucks (they did upgrade them to stronger springs, but ride height was the same).
Remember that when you see someone in a lifted Bronco doing his arduous journey to Walmart. It's an aesthetic choice.

You basically proved his point. They thought of everything they could possibly need, and a lift wasn't in the cards as it increases risk of rollover.
>>28517716 (OP)
Those tires will be absolutely AWFUL to drive on the street with. Go up one or two sizes in aspect ratio, and google owner's forums for your exact make, model, and year of vehicle to see what fits. The steering will be like driving on marshmallows. You will have significantly hampered acceleration and braking without other modifications to compensate.

You think you're being funny but they exist for offroad applications.
They prevent end-over-end rollovers.

You have to lift nucars to get that ground clearance. They're all pigfat belly draggers compared to that.

Hes right though, and youre a dumbfuck.

Let's look at components that are attached to the body and frame or mounted to the body and connected to something mounted on the frame:
>steering column
>shift linkage
>brake lines, multiple locations
>radiator
>wiring harness, all over the place
>possibly exhaust
You dont have 3 inches of excess slack in all of those components to "stretch" them to compensate for a body lift.

Body lifts are the worst thing you can do to a vehicle. Ontop of what I've listed you also destroy structural integrity by splitting the body and frame apart and putting stilts between them- it causes massive flex and shift.

>tl:dr
You have very limited experience and it shows

I lifted my 4runner since the original struts were worn out by the previous owner and I wanted to get some extra clearance when I take it off road activities. So I got some new struts and coils and it’s only lifted at most 2”, I got it done at the a shop since I’m lazy and have money to spare.

Yes, retard - I was joking. Body lifts are easy and shitty, unless you do them right and the only way to do them right is weld plates onto the frame brackets, drill them and do a direct mount with properly sized bolts.

They're not "easy".
They're more complicated than suspension lifts on 95% of vehicles.
