I'm looking for something cheap to go from work to back, since some stuff might make it harder to use my car. I heard from a friend that something like an wolf rx50 is good and I like it's design, but I don't know much about bikes at all. I was hoping for something under 1k

If Iโ€™m not mistaken, the last time tuonobro (the real one and not the faggot with daddyโ€™s bike) posted was when he stopped to fuel up and while he was filling the tank the bike suddenly caught fire.
The next picture he posted was the whole thing in flames outside the gas station.
He didnโ€™t post after that, but someone close said he was alright.

That was 3-4 years ago if my memory serves me right.

>Have repeatedly heard from friends with street bikes that they ride dirt roads, shale, and even marble size gravel no problem on slicks
>Once mud feels up the gaps, they turn into slicks, negating the one place they might have been better
So why do these things exist? Is it because they look like an offroad truck tire, and buyers want people to think their bike looks like a jeep?

I understand that DOT knobbies have their place, but most people can't stand how loud they are, or how the tarmac eats them up. But why not just put street tires on the larger dual sports and ADV bikes since they can do anything the chevron pattern tires can?

Seat gets uncomfortable after 30-60 minutes, zero storage, highway capable but not its element (5 gears).

Keep in mind the DR is my first bike so I have nothing to compare it with. I suspect it's well above average if your commute isn't all highway, isn't very long, and storage isn't a priority. The DR community is big on buying your way out of any drawbacks the bike has but now that I own one, the reality of those additional costs is setting in. My advice would be to score one that already has an aftermarket seat, I agree with the consensus that they're necessary and they aren't cheap.

I'm no MX rider, but I feel like the first time you really start to lean into a turn on loose stuff, and you get that slip on the front tire that makes your diaphram turn ice cold, followed shortly by the tire catching hold of something, anything... That's when you begin to appreciate the continuem of knobs on tires.

Not a DSbro or ADVdad but I bought Alpine Cinch Straps from Mosko Moto for like $30 and theyโ€™ve been way better to take on and off frequently than ROK straps. Ive heard the $50 with a metal buckle is even better about it
I took this set up all around LA and it kept my backpack firm with me leaning on it on the 101 so Iโ€™d say thatโ€™s about equivalent to some hardcore dirt riding in terms of force exerted lol

Was anyone waiting with baited breath to see if my LED conversion worked out? I have good news which is that it did. I got all the OEM blinkers installed, and the dash lights and the blinkers are all amber leds. They are extremely bright and look great.

Something interesting I encountered was that the turn signal indicator light ran its current in opposite directions depending on which blinker is blinking. So when I stuck the LED in one way, it would only flash with the left blinker, but if I turned it around it would only flash with the right blinker. Luckily I had a diode assortment and I just soldered a couple together into a makeshift rectifier then tapped the output into the ground from the hibeam indicator so it could blink both ways. I have no fucking clue if this is normal though.

This exercise also gave me an excuse to buy a wireless soldering iron because my butane powered one was pissing me off. I have to say guys, the battery technology for that shit is finally here. If you don't have a battery powered soldering iron just get one.

The real reason I wanted the stock blinker stems was so they'd stick out from outside my milk crate in the back. And as a secondary benefit, further obscure the license plate to make sure I never pay a single toll. I have to say guys, you should never pay tolls nor congestion pricing because that shit is for cars. And if your local authority doesn't know that, you have a moral obligation to help them charge the correct amount which is $0.

The latter is cheaper and faster, and also will vibrate less. The 650R vibrates quite a bit for an i4.

Where did you get that from? Just because it's vibey for an i4 doesn't make it useless. I use the entire tach and have no issue except on really long high speed trips. The extra vibe in high RPM is a direct consequence of the extra stroke which gives the engine more usable torque when riding at a relaxed pace. Overall it's a really great and unique engine which is perfect for the street.

what's the worst case scenario when buying a chinese bike brand new, are the reliability issues just a boogeyman or are they really prevalent as people say they are? i dont mind having to deal with a lot of initial maintenance as long as they "settle in" after that

Look, moped girls are 15-16 year olds here, even if the age of consent is 16 I ain't touching anything under 21.
If she can't get me booze from the liquor store, I don't want it. What good is a woman otherwise?

Now watch this, I'm trying to put together a moped/scooter magneto on to my Ural, Inspired by the chinkshit contraptions they do in the ukraine for old Soviet bikes, but with some improvements.
The ukrainian made ones usually have both the charging and ignition on the same coil, I ditched the magneto ignition and am using only charging, ignition will still be from the battery.
The main issue with these contraptions tends to be the coil overheating and melting the solders.
Here's hoping that with only charging it wouldn't heat up as much and last longer.
While magneto ignition is nice in concept as you can ride without a battery, it's just too unreliable in practice with these chinkshit parts.
The proper quality made Vape ignitions in Jawa and Izh bikes made by powerdynamo cost 500 bucks for a reason as they don't use regular soldered connections for the wires.

Look man, nobody looks cool camping except people posing for product photoshoots. You can try and look sleek with technical pants and a field shirt, but 2 hours into it and you've got sweat stains and you reek of DEET and sunblock anyway.

Why would offroad touring be any different?

I see a newbie on an ibex450 almost every day. I can't tell if the guy is small or if the bike is really that big for a 450, but he makes it look like something much larger.
iirc it's still near the top of Courts' daily rider still, though only because he hasn't tested any midsize ktms and beemers.

Honda? I recently full LED converted mine and how the circuit goes, some engineer a long time ago realized they could use less parts by back feeding the opposite side running light to run the turn indicator lamp at the turn signal switch. Easiest fix is to rewire the turn signal indicator with a diode by taking both leads into one diode into the turn indicator and then grounding the turn indicator

Notice how at the turn signal switch, it uses the opposite side running light to back feed current to the turn indicator lamp. With LEDs this current leak is enough to activate both sides. So on top of an electronic flasher unit, a turn signal diode is required

The 650xt is heavier, has less torque and top end, and has less clearance/suspension that the rest of the midsize market aside from the Versys line, but it does at least come with spoked tubelss. 800de fixed the torque and suspension issues, but it's heavy as shit, they ditched spoked/tubeless, and how the fuck are you going to have a v-strom that isn't a v-twin?

I might actually get to take the CB1000 out today if UPS doesn't fuck around until the end of the day. It's been down for at least a week and while I could use my phone as a speedo, I was too lazy to temporarily remove the speedometer cable. Temporary kilo gauge from Canuckistan shows up today and the one I sent in for repairs should've arrived in Lafayette, GA by now. My mom also fell and broke her wrist on her dominant hand, so my view of the world feels significantly narrower right now... have to do all the driving too since all the vehicles we own are manual transmissions. I want my bike.

So you get some outlet for your dissatisfaction for something that someone else did on the road while simultaneously accomplishing nothing? This is what the geniuses in government came up with to keep you safe?

When you can't even say MY NAME
Has the memory gone? Are you feeling numb?
Go on, call my name
I can't play this game, so I ask again
Will you say MY NAME?

I sometimes feel like asking them if they have eyes, or any sense of taste at all.

It has a BMW logo and plastics at front, that means its fast and expensive.
Also when people usually told me "nice bike" when I had a 500X what follows is them saying how they like bikes but would never own one because it's too dangerous, or, asking for a ride if they're bold.
It's just them trying to open up a little.

Ok, I'm going to be burried for this, so here goes nothing. In land of jeets, we just honk proactively. Its like a bats trying to communicate with sound. Its awful but it kinda works. 1/10, would not reccomend.

When I had my repsol cbr or scrambler, I understood "nice bike". They're genuinely pleasant to look at. This just looks like it's trying to induce a stroke in the viewer.

On the other hand, I think itโ€™s really lame that it doesnโ€™t get the integrated turn signals like the gsxr750 does
With a little refinement Iโ€™d seriously consider one
