All of those are going to be a horror. Get a Camry.

Get an older Toyota SUV like the 4runner or land cruiser.

>Mercedes W163 ML320 ML430 ML500 ML55

The petrol engine in these things are the most reliable Mercedes Benz engine ever made. They regularly do 400,000KM with just simple servicing. The issue is that the cars themselves are a bit agricultural, they are 20+ years old now and they are pretty thirsty on fuel. They also look very much like a 90s car.

>BMW E53 X5 3.0d

Don't consider ANY petrol BMW X5 E53, no matter the variant. They mostly are all shit on reliablity, and if they are decently reliable, they are too thirsty and underpowered for the car. The only car to buy is the 3.0d with the M57 engine, from 2003 onwards. This is the most reliable BMW engine ever made. All the factory rear suspensions on these cars have terrible camber wear on tyres in 2025, and you have to spend $300 on an aftermarket adjustable control arm to correct it. I'd probably just buy a E70 at this point.

>E70 X5

Same thing as above with all the petrol engines in the range. They are dogshit unreliable or underpowered. The only engine you can buy is the M57 engine, it comes in single turbo or twin-turbo configurations from 2006 to 2010. Very reliable. You may have to replace glow plugs, a glow plug module or thermostats. They upgraded the transmission from the E53. Really impressive car, no rear camber issues. The car itself is a huge step up over the E53. DO NOT BUY diesels from 2010-2013, they are the N57 engine and they are unreliable.

>Mercedes W164 X164 ML and GL

Only buy 2011 or 2012 model diesels. They started making these cars in 2006 but the engine had some faults that were rectified in the major update in 2011. Really nice car. Stay away from air suspension models if you can but they aren't that bad. Chinese air compressors and bags are extremely cheap now and they offer half decent quality. Stay away from petrol variants.
