kind of an uninspired brand. they definitely have some cOoL rIdEz but few and far between. they give me lambo vibes, a brand no one really gives a shit about just something people buy to show they can.

They haven't made a car worth having in at least a decade, probably closer to two. And those cars are on the verge of having expensive mechanical issues with hard to source parts. Take it from someone who used to have an old SL600, no used Mercedes is actually cheap.

I just can't get excited about German performance cars. No exceptions.

because their naming scheme is fucking retarded. I can't tell a basic trim from a performance trim to a midgrade trim.
The only car I can think of by heart is the SLK because I KNOW it's the two seater. The rest of it is all gobbledygook.

I'm going to be honest with you, chief, because the only cars I like by them are their older boxier cars driven by the Japanese mob, and unless I'm going to cosplay every day as one of them down to the license plate, I don't want any part of it. I want it all or I want none. So that's the reason. Maybe one day I will drive a blacked-out Mercedes and talk to everyone with an attitude, but until that day comes, I will stay away from Mercs.

I have one, had a W211 and now have a W212. It's cool for a modern car, but modern cars just suck in general.

MB used to have better reliability than Lexus. Then they traded their engineers for bean counters and started "cost saving" and planned obsolence. After all how can you sell a new car to most of your customers every 100k kilometers if it lasts 300k kilometers with maint? The current beyond 100k/5 years and the car becomes too expensive to be maintained is planned so they keep moving cars off the lot.

I really like how the GLK looks like, but repairs on it can be obscene. Like for example, it has a steering wheel ESL, that will randomly die on you, and often when the lock is engaged freezing the wheel. This requires you to either have the car towed, and fixed at the dealer for 1.5-2.5k, or do it yourself which involves either dismantling the steering column and pulling out the whole assembly, and then drilling through the ESL to move the gears to unlock it. Only after that can you take your key/esl and then go to a specialist that will make an ESL emulator that you plug back in so that your steering column can never be locked again. It's a completely pointless and retarded safety feature that does nothing but annoy you.

i daily a 300TD. Really nice ride, but its amazing how people drive these things for 20 years with no working heat, ac, locks, radio, etc. because they are too retarded to do basic troubleshooting or soldering or fit universal parts kek
I got every system working within a month of buying it that likely havent worked since the 90s through 4 owners. 4 stupid boomers drove a completely broken piece of junk for 200k miles because they cant use a test light
Everyone thinks theyre slow because too retarded to remove broken "anti-smoke" devices and theyve been driving around with 40hp for decades

It's such an improvement over the SLS, but it loses so much of the cool factor without the gullwing doors.
