In my dreams, Carlos Ghosn is still in prison forever for killing off this once proud company by embezzling all the money they had.

Mercedes did the same thing to Chrysler. at least Ghosn still let nissan build what they wanted.

how did that save the company
it probably was ultimately unprofitable and they never fucking updated it and they haven't made a genuinely new 6 cylinder engine in like 25 years

Anon, Carlos Ghosn was literally the guy who BOTH made Nissan create cool halo cars that brought people into dealers AND made Nissan profitable. Brand went to shit the moment he got thrown out.

why? if it's a good car, continuing to produce it is the smartest choice, because you don't have to cuck it to comply with new regulations and restrictions

The most over complicated business collapse of all time. First it was just general incompetence from Japanese work culture, then it evolved into an international incident in which France tried to own part of the Japanese auto industry. Now all Nissan can hope to do is be bought by Honda or Toyota

The problem was that his plan, or really the French's plan, was to lure Nissan into giving Ghosn total control using amazing profits, then to slowly destroy their reputation over time with subprime lending and CVTs in order to make a Renault takeover easier. Remember that before the entire debacle, the French voted to increase their control of Renault while. Goshn was trying to make the alliance permenat.
