anyone familiar with the fuel system and what would cause the purge valve to stick?

base model mazda cx-5, almost at 100k miles and the engine will rev on it's own, assuming valve stuck open dumping excess fuel vapor. I saw a video on youtube that showed tapping on the valve would unstick it. that worked intermittently and the problem got worse.

I changed the purge valve with auto parts special praying mazda isn't sensitive when it comes to electrical parts. it cleared the issue up for about 2k miles and then it came back, exact same symptoms.

I warrantied out the purge valve from the auto parts store and hoping maybe it was just a fluke bad part, but realistically what else could be causing them to stick? bad charcoal canister or maybe a evap leak? I'm considering taking it to the dealer.

I don't like my gf having to pop the hood and bang on the valve constantly.

last two codes tripped because her gas cap came loose causing a minor evap leak.

when checking the freeze data evap purge % was 0 and the code set at 660rpm/0mph so she was idling, likely when the car started.

pinch the vacuum line for the valve and see if it still revs on its own with that fuel vapour supply cut off.

Spray some brake clean around the engine bay and check for vacuum leaks as well.

I normally do, but this isn't my car, she wanted to save money and the part takes 5 minutes to replace so I figured even on the off chance it was a dud it wasn't a big deal to replace it again.

I'll try that next time. All the lines look practically brand new, but I do love spraying brake clean, so I'll try that as well.
