It needs new tires, and it's a sunroof car. It seems the owner fucked with the passenger bin when relocating the battery, though he says it's been reversed.
Also, it's red, which diminishes the value somewhat in my eyes, though the color has grown on me.

Receipts since '09 including transmission rebuild, but no compression test or comment on how easily it cold and hot starts is suspect.
Would not spend a lot unless I had some indication the motor wasn't about to need a rebuild.
Would honestly test drive an rx7 before buying.

Don’t buy without comp figures, or price a rebuild in. Rebuilds and crate engines used to be cheap but prices have gone mad these days.

The 5 speeds are glass. No idea why you'd bother with rebuilding one though. The 5 speed manuals used in the japanese 4 port rx8's are the same transmission and are only a few hundred a piece.

rx8 also handles better. Only people who think the opposite believe that mazda couldn't have possibly made any advancements in 11 years. The suspension on the rx8 looks almost identical to the fd's just more refined. an rew swapped rx8 blows the fd away in every metric.

Originally I wasn't a fan of red but as I said in the OP It's grown me. white or black is probably still looks better, but I'm tempted. Of course, wanting another color and/or a no sunroof car means I will probably end up closer to my 50k max.
I really can't decide if I should go for it or not.

The RX-8 is 9/10ths of an RX-7 in just about every way, except looks (it's much worse) and practicality (it's much better). This includes handling. This is why even with the same HP as FDs, you never see RX-8's hitting the same laptimes.
