>In some nerdy Internet circles — specifically, bike and pedestrian advocacy — it has become trendy to take a selfie in front of the bumper of random neighborhood Silverados. Among the increasingly popular heavy-duty models, the height of the truck’s front end may reach a grown man’s shoulders or neck. When you involve children in this exercise it starts to become really disturbing. My four-year-old son, for example, barely cleared the bumper on a lifted F-250 we came across in a parking lot last summer.

I miss when /o/ could come together and all laugh at how stupid and tall truck (and BMW) grills have gotten. Now it's a weird semi-political issue

Yeah it used to be a fun meme stacking truck grills on top of each other but say anything like "huh trucks are getting kinda big" and it's:
>Reeeeeeeee my right to drive Bigfoot SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED

I have a conversion van from the late 80s with a high-top fiberglass roof and I enjoy parking it next to supposedly 'normal' modern trucks because some of them are somehow just as tall.
At some point it's got to be more inconvenient to be that tall, like, I can't fit my van into any automatic car washes, even the touchless ones, imagine spending thousands of dollars on a brand new truck and finding out you have to wash the thing by hand...

I'm not smart enough to know if it's true or not, but the maple leaf Motorcycle channel did a story on how it's the height of the grill, and not the overall size of the vehicle, that was actually killing more people in collisions than previous designs.

It is but another step on our quest to drive the perfect rectangle. One day, after we have achieved glorious continuity between the top of the cab and hood, we will look back at these first tender baby steps and marvel at how scared we were to truly run.

The only thing those things need to move on a regular basis is their own weight and their owner's belarded, hideous mass.
