>>28534355> wet oil beltEven honda uses wet belts now. They are quiet and efficient, resilient to harmonic problems. There are reasons to use them, getting the belt chemistry correct was just not easy.
> liftersStop calling them cam lifters. They are roller type lifters, not cams. They don’t lift cams. I think the actual issue with them is not that the lifters themselves changed or the afm/dfm system. The actual issue is carbon buildup on intake valves causing them to get stuck sometimes - that acts like a bent pushrod and rotates the lifter which then wipes the lobes. This is definitely on GM for fucking up, the simple solution tho is an intake valve cleaner run from time to time. Ive seen plenty of these lifters exceed 400k miles on the odometer. Can’t help but feel if GM used ford’s double injectors system itd be a non issue. How bad is this problem? Well they have been selling a little over 2 million pushrod v8 every year since 2007. So 36 million engines - youre gonna hear about even the statistically small problems.
> gm 10 speedOne issue, issue is wear in a clutch apply timing solenoid valve. Another statistically uncommon problem, definitely not great - but NexGen is pissed GM won’t but his dumb ass O ring valves from him (lol) so he has made sure to blow it up on social media
> ran cracked exhaust manifoldsFirst ive heard of this.
Point is, they aren’t doing this on purpose. That wouldn’t make sense. They just can’t afford to do better competing against subsidized Japanese makes, the UAW and us corporate taxes, and a hateful, disloyal government and customer base. Americans continue to fail ourselves by not doing anything ourselves that make Japanese brands good.
