Yes many times. I once spent 6 months traveling around NZ by hitchhiking so I see it as a way of paying it forward. Generally it is quite fun as you get to talk to some interesting characters. I do avoid picking people up for long rides. Don't want to be forced to make small talk for 3 hours with some stranger.

I picked up a couple girls who were hitching to Bonnaroo in 08 or 09. I gave them some gatorades and we passed a joint around. One offered to blow me, I said no cause I'm married and don't play unless the wife is there too. Took them a couple hundred miles until the highway split and I needed to go north and they needed south. They showed me their tits when they got out. Good experience overall.

once had a shared ride with a skater dude in his ancient ford transit, he showed me a prototype of his battery powered electric skateboard, i ended up investing 10k into his company and got semi wealthy off that. hit the right timing in like 2013 when those things started popping off. we took turns driving the transit and he didnt tell me that sometimes the clutch pedal gets stuck and it happened to me right while i was downshifting into 2nd cause the mf was already only doing like 60kmh uphill, got giga honked at by like a dozen semis passing us lmao. had to kick the pedal to get it to plop back up, by then we were doing like 30. and then a few minutes before we got to our destination he had to break hard for something and one of the girls sitting in the back hit her head on like a foldout table and had to get stitches later. 10/10 experience would recommend it IF you live in a civilized country

No, but I hitch hiked once when I was in college. I had just spent a night in jail due to getting caught with weed, and my car was in the impound lot on top of a hill. It would have been quite a walk to pick up my car, but luckily some old guy gave me a ride.

Not a hitchhiker per se, but an old wog was walking past my house while I was working on a car, and he asked me where the nearest train station was. I offered to drive him over there as it was a fair 'ol trek, and we had a pleasant chat on the way over. He was very grateful.

I can only recall seeing a hitchhiker once. It was some rough looking guy in the middle of nowhere walking towards the nearest town and trying to flag down motorists. I was on the phone with my friend so I didn't stop. Later when I drove back I saw that guy still walking. Looks like nobody else stopped either.

A drunk woman paid me $170 to drive her to the next town over. she claimed she somehow "lost her car" and her phone, too. i was door dashing and desperate for any extra money. the next town over was just a single short highway drive, so i took it. immediately she starts fiddling with shit in my car, almost makes me sideswipe another fucking driver. she kept asking me for affirmation. "are we good...? WE ARE GOOD RIGHT!!!". i do a hard brake because someone turns but doesn't signal "HARD BRAKE DETECTED" goes my door dash GPS. she goes: "hard break detected...? HARD BREAK DETECTED?!?!" and starts freaking the fuck out. she then uses my phone to call someone, presumably her boyfriend and starts arguing with him.

eventually she falls asleep, and i can finally focus on driving. i usually drive with one hand on the steering wheel, like god hand, but she scared me enough to cause me to put both hands on the steering wheel for the first time. the worst part is... she said she would give me $200 not $170, but i didn't bring it up. i just wanted to go home. is this what taxi drivers have to deal with on a daily basis? holy shit. i'm just glad she didn't release any bodily fluids into my car.

Picked up more than a few. Usually older guys especially one that had a seabag, and being a milfag, I decided to pick him up. Guy was seriously fucking racist, but like in an old person that doesn't know any better way. I rode with him for like eight hours through several states. Shit was cool.

My mom told me not to pick up hitchhikers. Been following that advice for 25 years. They always look shady. All of them.

Only once. Normally being in a car with a stranger sounds fucking awful to me. But I was feeling kinda bored with my routine so ended up giving random old dude a ride to a biker bar.
