Nowadays manual sports cars are considered gems but when Ferrari was offering both manual and automatic California in 2010-2012, a few thousand clients ordered an automatic ones and only 2 (sic) ordered manual ones so they stopped offering manuals

>Implying customers of Ferrari's are car enthusiasts
>Implying they don't view the cars as just a fashion accessory
>Implying owners of Ferrari's drive their cars
A thread died for this.

beancounters hate manuals because of regulatory compliance, benchracers hate them because of muh 0-60.
manual transmission supercars often go for 2x the automatic on the used market and manual 911s have better resale value as well.
Honda and Porsche seem to be converging on the same idea that the manual is for a car or trim with it's own "enthusiast" identity separate from the volume version of their cars.
one thing i don't get though is that McLaren, being the "drivers" supercar, doesn't have a manual option. probably beancounter veto

Are they? Going off consumer consensus across the board, they're only more expensive because the only people who covet manual trims nowadays are boomers with more money than sense

because the people buying them new are only in it for the image. They don't intend to keep them as an investment.

mostly old guys with money had the means to buy them to cruise around with their sugar babies. any expensive car is going to be mostly automatics, thats just the way it goes.

Except all the high performance Porsches (GT3 RS, GT4 RS, 911 Turbo S, 911 GTS, and upcoming GT2 RS) are PDK only. So keep coping. Even Porsche knows manuals are antiquated dogshit.

Nobody buys powerful manual sports cars anymore.
They don’t have to rely on a stick anymore to make them *feel* faster. They ARE fast now.

Gt3 has a manual option

Yeah, every car feels fast when you go 250 kph. But making a car feel fast at speeds that don't make you lose your driving licence is more tricky.

A flappy pedal twin clutch is probably more sporty. You don't tow with a ferrari anyway.

>manual sports cars are considered gems
By the secondary market. The people actually paying the manufacturer are buying automatic

For the wife/mistress/slampig sidepiece
That's why they're automatics, because stick shift is hard for girls

>the last manual transmission Ferrari ever offered
>they decide to offer it on their Mercedes SL competitor only (of which, most SLs throughout history and definitely in modern times have been automatic)
A 458 with a gated manual instead of being auto-only would've actually been cool, on the other hand.
