If he's Amerishart, German cars tend to have very high parts costs and the maintenance on them can get extortionate.

That you need to get a highway cruiser that meets or exceeds what the Passat could do.

Iโ€™ve seen this. Pads n rotors at the dealership costing $3.5K for the front and $2.5K for the rear while an alternator alone costs $400+ and is made in China while having a Bosch brand sticker on it.

Iโ€™m not understanding why a rational person would want a newish German vehicle. I hate Toyota cuz reasons but an inline 4 Camry might be a better buy (itโ€™s easier to replace the alternator on it unless you like pain then get the v6).

I feel like it was 1200 for the rotors (all 4)
my dad let the brakes just fucking go on this x1 we had that we drove a LOT and you could feel the brakes were fucked and he didn't do anything about it and then the rotors were scored and they had to replace both - he was not happy

do you even NEED to replace the rotors ever if you tend to the pads?

Yes I had to change them twice, they last me around 150k miles.

Oof.
Well hopefully it serves you well as an appliance until you can get out of it. I'm not surprised that switching to a soulless korean slopover makes you miss what you used to drive.

no, you just didn't care enough about the car to do what needed to be done. You let it down, anon.

Although I have a honda so I likely don't know the pain of maintenance on a VW. Mine is older than yours but I plan to keep it in good condition in perpetuity if possible.

Seller's remorse, happens to most people who fall for the modern car meme. There are no comfy rides after 2010 because comfy rides cost you 0.00001% fuel efficiency.

I have an older gen one from 02, likely even comfier than the newer ones. Wishing I could operate the car from the rear seats, it's just that nice there. Everything besides the engine is not that reliable though, so yeah it needs something broken fixed once in a while, especially things that are part of the multilink suspension at the front.

Do you retards not know FCP Euro is place where you can just buy these parts? My 12 year old Sportwagen got its E-brake cable fixed and the rear pads, rotors, and calipers replaced for under 1200.

whoever convinced you to buy a newer car should be dragged out behind the shed and shot. youve made a terrible decision

Good luck discovering the recalls and dangerous fucking safety malfunctions, that nobody knows about, until youre the first mother fucker to get set on fire finger chopped off decapitated by your seat belt lane assist pull you into a semi etc etc etc

no shit ya turd, most old cars sold are already exported and an enthusiast clinging to his shitbox will not pay pablo 100$ an hour for an oil change
