There's a really good offer near me for a 1st Gen Ridgeline.
Are they good?
Understand that it's a unibody but I'm not towing anything just using the bed

>just using the bed
For what?
There's a storage box in the floor, and you don't want it to accumulate dirt or water, so the number of scenarios for bed usage is rather limited. Can't get anything out of this storage if you're "using the bed" either, including the spare wheel.

Mate, just because it has a trunk doesn’t mean you don’t use the bed lol.
I would have tie downs in the trunk and would take them out when I’m hauling my dirt bikes like in the OP picture
It’s the right truck for me at the price point with the creature comforts I like (leather seats, automatic rear window opener, automatic seats, etc…).
And like I mentioned I don’t mind that it only tows 5000 lbs, I will barely tow (maybe once in a while a small trailer or jet ski).
I just want to know if they’re reliable “trucks” / cars.

>I would have tie downs in the trunk and would take them out when I’m hauling my dirt bikes like in the OP picture
OP picture is a promo. Where does the dirt from these bikes end up, I wonder? They are called like that for a reason.

Shitposting aside, I actually did a quick search. It appears you have to keep the seal around the hatch cleand and in good condition, otherwise it will leak.
Find out if there are replacement seals for reasonable money and keep in mind you won't be able to get the spare (not fullside iirc) or the jack or anything from there while your bikes are in the bed. For me personally it's a major downturn, I had a couple of nasty slashes innawoods with stuff in the bed.

>automatic rear window opener
What's the purpose of it?

This is what people don't understand. A product is good if you want it. If you don't want it you'll get buyers remorse and hate it no matter how much utility it offers. Vehicles aren't bought on utility. It's an emotional purchase. Decide if you want the truck and if you can handle it not being a "man's" truck.

they're the oldest and most beat on, the truck really isnt designed to tow. if you are just dailying it, it will be fine. if you plan on buying a busted one planning to put an engine/transmisison in it, know that there are many varieties of the engine and transmission and the ones in the ridgeline are specific to that vehicle alone. the bed is goofy, very high to load bikes, and has hide away spaces that in practice are unusable. the engine sits DEEP in the engine bay making it difficult to work on, there are no gaskets only O-rings, they get hard with time not mileage, anything and everything will start leaking at random. Intake valves are manually adjusted which is insane for a vehicle made only 20 years ago. interior feels dainty but not fragile, typical good jdm quality. large flat spaces on exterior will look like complete shit with any imperfections. for a light truck you can do better, but for a daily larp mobile its a good F150

Do some research on these. Just because it's a Honda doesn't mean it doesn't come with issues. The first gen pilots that these share a platform with have the same known issues.

Autotragic only. Dogshit undersized FWD sideways autotragic too. Avoid. At least with GMT800slop you can drag the slushbox out from under the truck. With this contraption you have to drop the frame.

I own a ridgeline and have no idea what you're getting at. The truckbed works like any truckbed and the trunk is not in the way of using your truckbed at all.

Are you handicapped or something? Who wants to get out of their truck go into the back seats to open and close the rear window?

Oh, and it's the other way around: using the bed is getting in the way of trunk access. If you do use it, of course.

Every time you want to open your windows and or sunroof you want the rear window open. I use mine all the time its very nice to flick a button and have it open. Where I live it goes from great weather to rain in no time you really need to be able to shut it on the move which you cannot do with a manual one.
>>28552424
If you are going to load your bed with something you simply get anything you'd need out of the trunk first. The trunk is really nice to have and works well. I've never had a situation where it was a problem and I've used the trunk and bed plenty. If you look at trucks driving around your town most truck beds are empty most of the time.

Why? I had a double cab but never had that urge. To get rid of wind buffeting? There's usually a deflector in the sunroof for that or you can open rear passenger windows slightly.
>If you are going to load your bed with something you simply get anything you'd need out of the trunk first.
So you have to get the spare and the jack out every time? Doesn't seem convenient.

I am not educated enough in airflow/aerodynamics but an open back window immensely improves the driving experience in a truck. In anything but a single cab, a powered back window is preferable to a manual one for ease of use.

If you think of the air coming in your windows and being pushed through to the back of you cab its going to hit the back and circulate out. Having the rear window open creates a vacuum that sucks the air out in a steady uniform manner. Its a noticeable difference.
