Have you ever been in a situation where you’re stopped on a hill at a stop sign, or red light and your car rolls like 2 inches as you’re letting off the clutch and the person behind you honk their horn at you?
What do you do in a situation like that and while we’re here, do you have any tips on how to clutch out on hills?
I’m new to manual cars.

once youre good you wont roll back. Personally, ill roll back intentionally if i think the car behind me is gay, just to scare them

Yes, when you know you're just about to start moving, bring the clutch to *just* before the bite point then release the brake and feather out the clutch when it's time to move. You won't roll an inch.

No, but my current car has hill Assist and one of the first things my dad taught me when learning to drive was the parking brake trick to avoid that, so I never had that happen with my old cars either.

If i see a woman or jeet driving i intentionally let me car roll backwards before they even reach me so they think im a schizo and they keep their distance. works every time

its not foolproof but it works 9/10 times
helps if you work the brakes to rock your car a bit so they notice

Apply parking brake. Release foot off foot brake. Simultaneously release clutch, park brake and apply the accelerator.

You engage the parking break and only disengage it when you start giving it a little gas as the clutch bites, at least that’s how I did it, haven’t driven manual in 16 years though. Damn I miss my rices out 90s Lancer

Put on the parking brake before starting so the car can't roll. As soon as you've got engagement let off of it to go forward.

even if you are a flawless manual driver having a car up your ass can be a little nerve-wracking
worst case scenario you can do the ebrake trick like other anons are suggesting

had a jeet honk their horn at me when i was learning to drive manual and i stalled. that time i got annoyed but then realised that thing/meme about people having never ever driven a manual had happened to me. another time a guy in a hilux behind me instantly knew what happened and before i could even stick my hand up to wave sorry he already had his hand splayed out above the steering wheel as if to say "all good bro it happens"
>>28551595
i never knew about the handbrake thing when i drove manual, so i ended up always just goosing the accelerator while quickly (but as smoothly as possible) letting out the clutch. probably helped that it wasn't a smol engine so it had a decent amount of torque (not a diesel though) off the line.

That lever in the middle, that brake. That is there to stop you looking like a dick in public.
Just saying.

You balance the clutch and gas

If the hill is steep enough that I can actually roll backwards, I use the e-brake instead of the brake pedal.

nothing. I ignore them. same as when im backing up into a parking space using my rear view camera and im getting within an inch of the car behind me and the driver is sitting there honking at me.
ignore them.
you are in control, they are not, they will be the first to ring the alarm.

as far as clutching up hills, you need to develop muscle memory for the pedals, as soon as you release the brake, your left foot is getting ready to let off the clutch as your right foot moves to give it a gas.

The following car needs to stop at a safe distance. If you hit them by rolling back 2 inches then they are not filling at a safe distance.

Stop making up shit that has never happened nor ever will happen
You don't have that much effect on other people's lives
>do you have any tips on how to clutch out on hills
Know where the bite point is and get your foot right below it before you let off the brake

That does make me feel better anons. It did make me mad and startle me a bit- the general shock of someone laying on the horn, while I’m rolling back, trying to unclutch and control the throttle. It’s not very pleasant.
>had a jeet honk their horn at me when i was learning to drive manual and i stalled
When this guy laid on his horn, I didn’t stall, but I did wind up not being as gentle with the gas/clutch as I should’ve been in that moment. It did bother me a bit, but given the stressful situation, what can you do?
That makes me feel better hearing your situation, anon.
