The covers that appear transparent to your naked eye are fake and don't actually work. Speed cameras and toll cameras use regular visible light for the photographs and they see basically the same thing as you.

The ones that are reflective work sometimes, but only for the cameras with flash, but they are easy for cops to see and you'll get a hefty ticket.

The ones that are shaded like a sunglass lens don't usually work and always get you a ticket.

The remote controlled magnetic leaf blocks 100% of cameras and actually tricks cops a lot of the time. And if a cop follows you, just release the electromagnet. He'll have to follow you instead of chasing down the leaf, at which point your license plate will no longer be obstructed and there will be no proof you did anything. That is well known to be the only safe and reliable plate obfuscation method.
