How do we save manual windows?
with silicone lubricant on the rubber tracts, just like the plumbers do.
how else?
Buy a new Wrangler and support the cause I guess. It's the only one left with manual windows, right?
>>28560808 (OP)This is one thing I genuinely don't give a fuck about. Trying to save manual windows is like trying to save carburetors.
Buy a base model jeep wrangler?
>>28560862ahh twinsies!
theres nothing good about these
>>28560866You know it - pic less than 10 min ago.
>>28560880What if my vehicle is slowly sinking into water and I need to lower my window but the electronics die? Checkmate pal, that definitely gives a reason for them to exist still
Crank windows are dogshit, one of the single best automotive things to be electrified.
>B-B-B-BUT MUH RELIABILITY!!!
I have a 22, 21 and 10 year old vehicle with 650k miles and 10 power windows between them. I have changed precisely one (1) window motor ever, the other 9 are still assembly line original, and replacing it was all of an hour. Plenty reliable enough for me.
>Bro power windows are just another thing that can break
How are you people molesting your cars in ways where your fuckin power windows break?
>>28560808 (OP)The answer you want? Gut nanny regulations. A technically legal shitbox is so expensive now that including a couple hundred bucks of power windows is negligible, and that's before we get to tooling costs.
My answer? Don't. Go back to directly handling the current through the switch like they did before ~1983, reliability will immediately improve.
>>28560951Ask general motors, man.
I briefly looked at an absolutely abused 1960's cadillac. Damn thing had 3 coats of paint, the last of which looked like house paint someone applied with a brush. The interior wood was dry rotting. ...And despite all this abuse, the original power windows worked. Slowly. Very slowly. But nevertheless, they went down and they went up.
>>28560961***moral of the story is that new cars have shirty contacts and then some relays or a computer with transistor relays. Old cars directly handle that shit. If it's corroded and your hands are sweaty the old stuff will give you a nice zap too
>>28560905everyone should have one of these in their cars. You just break the window and gtfo
>>28560951bullet proof windows are known for destroying these window motors
>>28560951I don't know what it is about the power windows in my crown victoria but if you roll them down all the way they get jammed and the only way to get them back up is either hold the button while punching the door and hope you can shake it loose or take the entire door apart, lol
They sometimes get stuck all the way up too which is just great
>>28560905okay but electronics would still work in that situation
>>28561028Electronics die pretty quickly when. Your car nose dives into a body of water.
>>28562177can I prove that a car submerged in water won't have working electrical?
>>28561033actually no, the electronics work for a pretty decent depth. you'll be fine unless you have the reaction time of a carcass, and in that case you deserve to drown

The Slate EV has roll up windows and doesn't even have a radio or speakers.
>>28562477Wouldn't that explode in the water?
>>28560808 (OP)Its too late the latest model of tesla has no wheel buttons stalks or anything. Its Bluetooth neuralink good luck when the shit disconnects down the road and you can't connect it back.
>>28562507because it's not a lie. but you seem convinced that there has to be SOMETHING you can use to feed your ego with.
>>28562508no, but a mercedes will with their magnesium engines. it's just like science class it's those metals that explode in water!
>>28560905I guess shoot the glass. You do carry a gun, right anon?
>>28560880i like that they work without having to stick the key in the ignition
>>28560949i remember seeing a work van that had electric windows but the owner added in the hand cranks. both worked
