Bell tire says this is too close to the sidewall to plug. Should I just plug it myself and send it?

You gotta be getting close to the wear bars in the center of the tread. If you can't/don't want to shell out for a new set, just plug it with a plug kit. Tire shops probably don't want to take on any risk for a puncture that's not in the central tread area.

rule of thumb is ~1 inch from the sidewall
you could probably even use an actual rule of thumb and just use your thumb

How much longer do you plan on using this tire? You can plug it and run fine for a few months easily, but I wouldn't plan on running out the rest of its tread life.

If they're run flats then sure, it'll probably last you for the rest of the tread life without issue. I've plugged a hole like that before and it held up until I got a new set of performance tires.
If they're not then I wouldn't take the risk

You stupid enough to think ima trade in a car because of tires? No you dipshit, I’m done owning the car. I could give two shits about replacing some tires if that’s what I have to do. I’d rather keep my money if possible though because I’m not a retard.

He said he doesn’t want to pay for new tires on a car he’s selling anyway, not that he wants a new car because the tires went bald. Surely, you can’t be this dumb anon.

Yes, plugs aren't rocket science.
Even holes on the sidewall you can fix with a patch on the inside as long as it's not like a big gash that has fucked your cords.

You can totally plug the shit out of it. Shops gotta be pussies because of the safety of patching the interior but a plug is not going to care where it is.
You are a complete pussyfaggot if you don’t plug that.

I would just stick a rope plug in it and wait for black friday/new year tire sales.
I assume your three other tires in the same wear range.
Everyone has a very different definition of where the shoulder-sidewall starts.

Yeah I've plugged a tire in that spot and it lasted the life of the tire. What you have to realize is rope plugs work way better than anyone is willing to admit. The tire shops can make more money selling you a new tire. Manufacturers would have to approve or deny them on a case by case basis, and even then it still depends like to you just use the bitch to run errands and commute, or are you hauling heavy?

Rope plug and send it.
