I am wondering why they're the same price. Does the CB have features that the Z900 doesn't, other than the e-clutch? I know the engine is bigger. 650 is obviously a lower number than 900.

Help me with some bike philosophy
I bought a cbr650 some time ago because people promised me it would be most fun on twisty roads. I found instead that it's so long geared that you have to be in 1st at 60mph to be in the powerband. This means that at most legal speeds (and the safe speeds you can actually corner at) the engine has no gump whatsoever.
So my dilemma - do I search for another 'goldilocks' zone hp bike that's fun on public roads or just accept most bikes are insanely quick and take that to it's conclusion buy buying a recent hayabusa?
I was thinking of a Ducati supersport 950 Vs Busa scenario. Both would cost the same to buy, run, insure and maintain and for sale near me.
Vfr might be an eligible option but it's the worst of both with Busa weight and 950ss hp

I test rode one. In those 60 mins I concluded that it's never lacking hp, though it still needs revving to get into the powerband. Couldn't find any vibrations at any rpm. Excellent suspension and handling and does everything that your Suzuki can. The electronics were a nuisance to navigate through and detracted from the riding experience until I set the mode and left it there

I have zero experience, so I can’t really answer most of these. Live in TX, plan to ride street (suburban / highway eventually). Think ADV bikes look funny, so I’d probably opt for a naked or cruiser.

I do like what I’ve seen and read of the MT07, so I’ll take that into account. That said, I’ll probably lurk more on these threads to get a better idea of what I want. Thanks for humoring me.

light enough to be flickable
powerful enough to get your kicks
good size/height (imo as a manlet)
VERY accessible for wrenchlets
parts are abundant for maintenance
lots of good, solid aftermarket options too
can restrict it if you feel its too powerful while learning
relatively cheap
dealerships everywhere, in every country
generally the owners look after them, if buying 2nd hand
and most importantly, they look cool (imo)

they also lend themselves to natural progression to an MT09/MT10 and will be somewhat familiar controls if you wanted another type of yammerhar, like a tenny

>>28566889
if youre near a big city, check if any of the dealerships (usually brands, rather than second hand) do test ride days and try get onto one of them
you can usually try like 4-5 bikes in 1 session if you've not got retards in the group
personally i'd advocate for everyone starting on an MT07 because of above reasons (although I learned on suzukis and currently ride a kwak)

Does it make sense to do that? Would I financially loose out on a lot potentially? If I have been waiting for over a month of a back order part, supposedly, should I continue to wait?

Also thank you to the anon, wherever you are here, that recommended that Joel Levine guy over in Georgia to rebuild the speedometer. He did fantastic work and he even took the "safety slop" range out of the gauge. I had to replace the hub gearbox though since it grenaded itself. Cost $640 but I don't want to fiddle-fuck with dropping any other gauge in there. The dials aren't sun-bleached either so it looks really pretty at night with the green backlight.

lol how tall is your inseam? I'm only JUST 5'4" with a sub 30" inseam so learning to handle this bike has been entertaining. I'm in my early 30s but my dad was born in like 1942. He couldn't get his leg over the seat any more since he lost some height due to knee replacements, so I found him a 1983 Honda Shadow 500 to keep up in traffic. I had to replace the oil seals in its forks too (service tech told me apparently it's common for people to never replace the seals on their forks). I've done it on the CB1000 but my dad apparently had done it at some point so it went very well. The oil was still red too. On the Shadow it was grey-black. I've resealed and re-shoed the calipers on this bike as well, and had to replace the fuel petcock after ethanol gas took a 2" brass line to less than 1/2" above the collar out of the tank. De-rusted the tank too. I've left it unlined but I top it off with ethanol free supreme when I bed it down for the night.

The funny thing is that I only recently started riding motorcycles other than bicycles and an e-bike I tried once. I serviced it and got it back in working order back in May, and took the MSF course over Mother's Day weekend. I applied for my endorsement the day or two immediately following that weekend. If you don't screw around on it and it's pretty low-key, so the police leave you alone. I've kept up with some sport bikes on it, but I'm having to reel myself back just a bit because I'm getting just a little too confident with cornering. My unused tread is about a finger's width, but I've had it bottom out just a titch when I hit a slight depression in the middle of a hairpin turn; it just barely, BARELY grazed the kickstand hinge and the bike shimmied just a little bit. I've started adding a little air to the rear suspension as well to keep it extended, and the TRAC anti-dive was set to 3 when I started riding it.

This is right, EPS takes a fuckton of years to actually crumble in time, its a type of plastic foam after all. You should change the inner paddings instead if you got an old helmet that doesn't fit you tight enough, which can be found with ease on most well known brands.
Similar case is if your helmet falls off accidentally, the EPS won't suffer, only the outer plastic shell. EPS will actually have deformation when there's something pressing against it on impact, which is your head.

Chinese mystery meat ar500 are just normal ar500. So is codura on Chinese gear but the issue is the cut and stitching.
But that's unrelated, company make those listing's for the brain dead, the plastic and foam degrade in heat and uv but from normal wear the pads used for comfort and the straps wear out without a replacement.
Anyways I need a hurricane to hit the east coast bad enough to give me 2 weeks worth of overtime again so I can buy either an xr150 or sell my current bike to afford an scl500

The manufacturer using poor quality stainless that corrodes has nothing to do with how it's taken on or off.

It's actually not a bad idea to inspect them regularly but to give the straps a tug once in a while - I'd rather they fail in my hand than when I need them the most.

It's an industry wide problem not exclusive to Bell, is been documented on low though high end manufacturers, including Ariat and Airoh units.

>The 20 HP 350cc engines just can't do that.
They could back when bikes where simpler and lighter, my air cooled 350 has plenty of Power but on a bike that has 50Kg less than what these new One have (and actually a bit more hp since it's 27 vs 20 stock)I think you either have to go on bigger sizes now where you gain some hp and not that much more weight or you need to get actual old bikes if you want that.
>Guerilla at least is in the comfortable power category
That's what i read and hear so far:
Enough Power, engine Is fun and quirky and while It has some electronics they are on the simple side and well made, a bit heavy but not that much more considering how heavy the 400-500cc bikes are now (i think the Triumph Is less than 10Kg lighter but it's also smaller).
I Guess the fact you hardly find them on sale on the used market (this and the himalayan 450) means Who bought One decided to keep It because they like It.
it's Just hard for me to justify buying a new bike as opposed to a used one, but even looking at the used market i either have to go back a lot and It will have all the liability of older bikes or i settle on something like a cbf for convenience and It Will be Just "a bike" not One i like. I Guess sometimes the good thing Is to not be logical and go with instinct
