Do bike guys also have their beloved widow makers (like car guys love Viper and Lotus Elise) or are bikes extreme enough just because they're bikes?

That's not that little. Like 300 hp in a car. 50 years ago.

That was Lamborghini fast. Cars have only recently caught up with bikes.

This.

It's a pre-power valve 2 stroke with zero rider aids running 70s brakes on a dogshit frame. This bike got a dangerous reputation in the 70s, when everybody was on drugs and drinking and driving was legal and American testosterone values were still high and everybody had lead poisoning from the gas, paint, and water pipes. I've never ridden one but I reckon it was hella

Aside from that, not much. Closest thing that comes to mind is the first gen fz09 with the bad throttle mapping but I'm sure there's something I'm not thinking of.

Bad throttle mapping + squishy rear shock, as is Yamaha tradition.

The short lived Aprilia SVX450 and 550 were known as being extremely hard to ride and arguably too powerful anyone but a semi-pro supermoto racer. The Triumph Rocket 3 is like a final generation viper, wicked fast but refined enough to not be lethal.

Whilst we're on Aprilia, I'm going to nominate the RS Cubed: the most powerful engine in motoGP that season, recorded the highest top speed in testing; but had a poor chassis with no front end feel and very early traction control and ride by wire which made it uncommunicative and unpredictable to ride. Colin Edwards called it "born bad" and teammate Nori Haga crashed it 28 times.

The H1 can be more dangerous because it’s got less torque down low, so it’s a more extreme power surge, on or off.
Anonymous No.28571344 [Report]
The Ninja H2 is still the endgame for a lot of people. 250 whp with a tune, over 300 with bolt ons. Appreciating strongly the last couple of years.

KTM truthfully, engine fire, pistons shooting thru seats and my personal favorite the onboard electrical system failing and the dash going blank (leaving you to hope it's just a display failure). That being said I drive a KTM

My 790 is one of the most powerful in its class and makes 96 horses. Riding a 70s bike with that much hp would definitely make plenty of widows

i got my bike licence on a mt-07 and hated every second of riding it, it has a reputation here for being somewhat of a widowmaker
not because it's any more powerful than bikes of compareable size, but it just feels really unrefined and uncomfortable, and apparently really easy to break traction or accidentally do a wheelie and such
it's also beloved by low impulse control youths/thugs for having such a reputation, so the cycle continues when they get one and kill themselves on it

>Widowmaker
Yes, we do. 1 bike specfically was coined that back in the speed wars.

The TL1000R aka the Tiller Killer aka THE widowmaker.

It was called this because of suzukis choice of rear suspension, a piece of racing tech known as a Rotary Shock.

The geometry of these bikes were so bad that suzuki attempted to remedy its problems by attaching multiple steering dampers but it wasn't enough.

They're really cool machines with a gear driven cammed 999cc V twin, but the suspension in stock form was actual suicide.

Theres also the Suzuki Silent killer, fortnine did a video on that bike but it was from the 80s so everything of that era was dogshit lol.

New bikes, there isn't a widowmaker. They can't sell one due to technology requirements. All the gizmo nannies prevents this from realility.
>But busas bro!
Nah, long wheelbase good chassis and suspension. They're not widowmakers by any stretch of the imagination.

>KTM
You could argue all single piston thumpers run a risk not just them.
>>28569910
Not a stock bike, anyone can build a widowmaker but not everyone can sell one to the public.

I was riding my v-twin lawnmower, air cooled, and in fraction of a second engine just seized up. Dirt got in the cooling fins.
I can only imagine bikes that do this exist also, but go faster than 8mph.

Mt07s are tame. Easy to wheelie and wheelie-prone mean two different things.
Anonymous No.28572037 [Report] >>28579094
>>28571834
The Dyna is unquestionably poorly designed but their weight and wheelbase make them stable enough, plus most don't ride them very hard. If someone does, they'll install a true-trac. I yearn for the alternate reality where the FXR stayed around and we got factory six speed, EFI FXRs with the twin cooled 103HO. THAT would be a fucking bike. I might have to build that if I ever have the money.
