Many a trucker has been locked out of their truck by a cat standing on the buttons. You'll also want to get covers made for the window switches so they don't roll a window down and get out or roll one down when you're sleeping. There's a guy that 3d prints them for cheap for most models of semi, I can't remember his info off the top of my head but if you ask around on the /r/TruckerCats subreddit you'll find it. Yes, it's reddit, they're all faggots, but occasionally there's useful information and services on there.

You might also look into getting a collar that has gps tracking capability for just in case they do get out of the truck and getting pet insurance for them is also a good idea so if you're ever way out in bfe and they get sick you can get them help and not have it rape you financially.

I usually carry a set of keys with me, whenever I’m out of the truck, but if I’m going to a truck stop for a shower, or anywhere else where the probability of me forgetting or losing my main key, then I will have a spare on me, just in case, so that habit should bode well for me, having her in the truck.
Also, I have a APU, so the windows won’t roll down, whenever the ignition is off, so I won’t have to worry about my cat pushing the buttons, until I get a change of equipment into a tractor with auto start. I’m also making sure to turn the APU on whenever I have to leave the tractor. Probably should leave it off whenever I’m fueling.

That's what I'm betting on, I've noticed the truckstops are filling up a lot later now, there was a time if you weren't parked by 5pm forget it. On the load I brought into SLC for my Bonneville vacation I got front-row parking at Little America in Wyoming, the original one, not the one in Cheyenne. Pull-through front row spot at almost 11pm, that was unheard of maybe a year ago. It was half-full. I woke up at 0700 and the spot next to me was never taken.

Keep in mind that trucking schools only teaches you the bare minimum for operating a commercial vehicle, safely, and the length and quality of the tuition you’ll receive (and your ability to operate a large vehicle) will significantly affect how well you will perform on the road.
Some people will do well in trucking school and will pass their CDL tests on their first or second tries; some people will have a difficult time grasping what they’re being taught and may have to take the CDL tests multiple times before the school tells them to fuck off with no refunds.

That's 45cpm which is more than I make currently as a first year otr driver. Granted if it's being paid in cucknadian pesos instead of USD it's equivalent to 32cpm which is less than what I make driving on much more dangerous roads than I do, which is a shit deal.

I wouldn't recommend trucking to anyone that wasn't literally schizo or asocial if not antisocial and a schizo. At this point it's basically a job for people that would otherwise be in prison or dead that have a deep seated need to be able to scream slurs at the top of their lungs every day to not indulge homicidal fantasies. It's shit the first year and not much better the second, and doesn't actually get good until you've got 3-5 years experience with a clean record. The school I went to let everyone do the ELDT as a group doing an open book test. There was no thinking involved at all. A retard could've done it and several of the Mexicans were using Google translate to work out the answers amongst themselves because some of them could barely speak English. This was weeks before the EO hit. They're all driving right now as far as I know.

After taxes I'm making 2300$ a month just starting out with a megacarrier. By the end of the year that'll be 3600$ a month. Unless you're almost homeless or so broken you can't do anything else you shouldn't get into trucking unless you're willing to basically be a slave for at least a year if not several years until you can get an Actually Good job and even then you won't be making real money until you're half a decade in, and that's all assuming you literally never make a mistake that entire time. There's a quote from a black American general about the military, in which he basically says the armed forces aren't racist because everyone is treated like a nigger regardless of the color of their skin. That's how trucking is. You're not an actual person that anyone gives half a fuck about until you're at the point where you've got at least half a million miles loaded without incident, and to put it into 4chan parlance, you're not white until you've got at least a million miles loaded which takes about 7-10 years depending on how hard you run.

I'm fine with it. I hate working with the general public and I've already got a couple actually decent job opportunities lined up for when I'm done with my first year which is the real hurdle most don't get past without an incident. I also worked construction and IT before this and if you think trucking is overrun with illegals compared to those two you're literally smoking crack. I enjoy having a job where people are happy a white guy that speaks English showed up and any level of competency on top of that means they treat you with respect. I like seeing the country, I'm fine being by myself for long stretches of time, I can handle extreme stress well without getting wigged out, I'm not married, and I have basically no bills. I'm the perfect guy to just go run 3-4k miles a week OTR for a couple years stacking cash before I find something regional or dedicated with a real company where I get to be a human being again. I don't mind fucking my hand more often than anything else and I'm perfectly happy just chilling on my xbox in the sleeper for my entire 34 when I'm not asleep.

I'm just being realistic about the job with someone considering it. It's not for everybody. It's for damn sure not for extroverts that require other people interacting with them to be happy or people that can't handle stress well. I saw an entire family dead and dying in a brutal wreck my first month out and didn't give a shit where that would mentally skullfuck most. People should know what they're getting into and why it sucks before they try it out because the recruiters will lie their ass off to get asses in the seats and let idiots get thrown to the wolves if not into prison.

If you spent the time getting the degree and at any point said "I'd be ok with doing this for the rest of my life" don't bother getting a CDL. If you like the field you got your degree in, buy a small RV and expand your job search area significantly.
If however you think a change is in order, all you have to lose in trucking is either a couple thousand bucks or up to a year of your life depending on CDL4free program contracts, there is very little barrier to entry and you will have a job. That being said the job is unlikely to pay well for likely the first year or two (half a million miles is an extreme exaggeration, I'm at ~125k and I'm making 6 figures), the job is incredibly lonely, if you cannot handle that do not sign on, and you will have to deal with the real world whether that be just how retarded and disgusting 3rd worlders are or people treating you like shit or places to go that can't possibly fit a truck or even the chance of killin someone/seeing victims of bad driving. Those things can and will eat away at you if you're not able to shake em off as fast as they come.

Trip plan. Highway driving is piss easy, but it's the last and first miles from and to the highway that will fuck you to death if you're not careful. Never trust just one gps, and never fully blindly trust a gps unless it's a place you've been before and you know the route is safe and correct. I run truckerpath and my ELD navigation and I tend to use my ELD for first and last miles unless I have verified using satellite photos that the truckerpath route is safer or better. I'll even use google streetview if I'm really worried. If your ELD doesn't have navigation, then get a good trucking gps and use truckerpath or hammer in conjunction with it and make sure you're stopping when safe and legal to do so before you get to the end of your route to make sure you're not about to go down a no trucks allowed street or haul 40 tons over a rickety piece of shit bridge or have to make an impossible turn and block traffic or maybe get the cops involved to unfuck yourself.

Other than that make sure you're following bridge law in states where it matters and make sure you're hitting the scales religiously for any loads 30k lbs and up. And GOAL, PAL, and LAP every single time.

I've found hammer to be unreliable, it's a good second opinion but I always go with Google or Apple maps after confirming a truck safe route, also if you fuck up, do not consider calling the police a last option. My take home is about 620$ after taxes on a 2500 mile week at my current pay rate with a mega. By the 9th month of my first year it'll be about 875$ after taxes. With a real company that would be more like 1500$ after taxes, but I'd be getting a hell of a lot more miles since I wouldn't be limited to 65mph so realistically it'd be more like 1800-2200$ depending on the loads. I do not know what station that company is paired with but megas get exclusivity deals; Schneider got cheaper diesel from pilots so I only ever was shown pilots and hence only needed their app. I used truckerpath for general reviews of a location but it barely held any more use than that in my case.

It's not so bad, I run through there all the time. Make sure you're not low on coolant or oil and your fan is working properly because you'll need it, turn your jakes all the way up, and maintain plenty of following distance. If you need to slow down more than your jakes can do use stab braking - slow down 5mph, let it build up speed again, slow down another 5mph. I wouldn't recommend going over 70 for any reason and generally keep it around 66-68mph coming down the hill.

And if your gps tries to take you on 321, 421, or 91 - don't, lol. Reroute unless it's absolutely necessary and if it is necessary you better be getting paid well.
