Thoughts on Lotus Emira?
Toyota 2GR-FE engine, 3.5 l, 406 hp, 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, RWD available as an automatic for casual road trips and manual for enthusiasts. Price is about 100k USD at top trim.

I like it. More than 6 cylinder Gaymans even.

its an interesting attempt at a handling car thats designed to work as a daily driver. it doesnt have back seats for obvious reasons but you could comfortably live with it as an only car if you live alone or were married without children

another overpriced pretentious european car that's a worse driver's car than a camaro.

The price is just wild. Like I understand it's a low volume car so the price has to be higher but imagine buying this over a Z06
Anonymous No.28575924 [Report] >>28575938
>>28575920
to be fair 100k is the best specs you can get, whereas the Z06 starts at 110k and goes up to like 150k

I don’t have 100 large and if I did I suppose I’d probably buy something sensible, but seeing that I don’t, I think I would rather have something like a Morgan.

id be interested in a 8 cylinder awd version of this

This. hugely overpriced for what you get in todays market. Plus it comes with that... uh..."legendary" Lotus attention to detail.
There's no reason at all to buy this over a C8, hell a buddy of mine picked up a new Z06 for 105k and I thought he couldve taken another 5k off it with some work.

A red one wound up behind me on my commute yesterday. Drop-dead gorgeous in person. Definitely an aspirational car that I could see myself pursuing some day.

Thought about it. Took too long to actually deliver over here. Realized it's the same price as a gts 4.0. Test drove a Cayman. Didn't like it. Bought a 911 instead.

The obsession that single dudes have with daily driving sports cars is something I'll never get. You're not having fun sitting in traffic, put the miles onto something more suitable.
Anonymous No.28576491 [Report]
it's a cool car but I miss their stripped down cars that were just an engine, wheels, and seats in a fiberglass shell
the 2nd gen Elise MSRP'd at only $42k
granted that's like $70k in today's money but still

*Real* driver involvement would be having two yokes for independent fully articulated front and rear wheel steering, but people aren't ready for that conversation.

Friend has one with the s/c v6. Took forever to actually be delivered and eeded an upgraded exhaust right out the box. It's painfully quiet stock. Exotic looks and the interior is good too. People flock to them because they haven't seen them before.

While it's Toyota powered the British still managed to make it unreliable. Parts are extremely expensive and little to no shops will work on it. If you're on your own like that you might as well go with a kit car. Meanwhile for $100k you could get:

>2500lbs
>RWD
>gated manual
>mid engine
>your choice of engine but obviously you would use a LS
>500+hp N/A in a 2500lb car
