First time taking my car to a track day, what do I need to know?
Should I swap out the brake fluid? I know I need tires. Also better brake pads. I also already have my helmet. I’m just gonna try to listen to the instructor and be respectful of the rules.

Fresh oil, fresh coolant (check if they allow glycol otherwise run pure water + water wetter to retain lubrication qualities), fresh brake fluid, track-compound brake pads. Hold your fucking line if someone is behind you, it is THEIR responsibility to overtake and you trying to get out of the way will make things worse.

Your first time you won’t be good enough to ruin anything. Do fluids and stuff at the end of summer.
Have fun

If they have passing flags and they start waving them then GET OUT OF THE WAY (on the next straight)
Do your fluids if they haven't been done in a while
Budget for a new set of tires after the event if it's more than a few laps
Make sure your car doesn't suffer from oil starvation under hard lateral acceleration or your engine will neck itself
Racing gloves are a meme
If you start losing control and don't know what to do then let off the gas, it's better to spin out from liftoff oversteer than crash into a wall
Go fast

I will also be waiting for you. Look for the guy with a blue polo and white helmet

Crazy that you gotta do all of that when you can just go to the togue for free with your car as is.
>All da roolz and big fees just to be there
>Jannie inspections
>Gee why are people doing street racing?

If you're driving a car ACTUALLY hard you'll be doing the same modifications.

buy the insurance if they offer it, unless its a cheap track build.

You don't need to do any of that
Your first track day will likely be with an instructor and you won't be driving fast enough to hurt any factory systems.
