Winter Beaters
Any of you own a winter beater? If so, what does it look like?

Ford five hundred, paint is cooked, AC doesn't work, rusty fragments rain out of the rocker plastic every time I kick it, but it refuses to die and it rides like a cloud

Like a normal car since they don't salt here

Excluding new expensive aluminum meme cars the c4 corvette has excellent rustproofing and I've yet to see even a mildly rusty one that wasn't yard art. I assume the c5+ are good too but those aren't true beater price yet

Are you really driving a car without a back windshield in the winter cold?

it's got a heater core with a blower motor ziptied to it in the floor, it's not that bad.

Some 20-30 year old Audis were dipped in a fuckton of zinc at the factory. Many haven't really started rusting yet, even in places with winter temps around the freezing point and plenty of road salt everywhere.
No idea if they're still as good, but this is fucking VAG so they probably suck now. I guess we'll see in a decade or two.

I love my Niva, it's so shit it circles back into being great.
That being said it's the only car ever where my feet aren't freezing during the winter.
Idk if I have weak circulation or some shit, but even in, back in the day, almost brand new BMW and Mercs my feet were freezing during the winter. Jap cars are even worse, they don't even attempt to make decent heaters for their cars.

Unironically, Renault has the best rustproofing, closely followed by Audi (excluding 2003-2008 era), and Volvo

Yeah, its efficiency is so shit that it kind of circles back to being great---poor efficiency means plenty of heat.
