they literally are better than american "trucks" in some regards.
anon posted a perfect example. the pavement princess 4 1/2 foot bed f150 doesn't have a scissor lift or dump bed or crane or fire truck or any of the other various configurations kei trucks are sold as, it doesn't have fold flat bed sides to make it into a flatbed, it can't get 50 mpg, it can't fit down narrow atv trails
Truggs are significantly better than kei trucks in some ways as well, making literally 10-20x the power, high top speed, better acceleration, better tow capacity, better load rating, etc.
If you need something like a sxs or just want something for around town that will rarely see highway use, kei trucks are ideal.
If you need something for daily driving in comfort with no limitations to highway driving, to tow your boat, 5th wheel, multiple pallets of cinderblocks, etc, an f150 is the better option.
I make custom furniture in my shop. none of it is massively heavy, but it is bulky, and I have to transport it down a narrow path on the side of my house to get it to my truck or vice versa. The shipping center I take it to is about 2 miles away. For that purpose, a kei truck would shit on an f150 in practicality.
>b-b-b-but what if you need to go 90 mph while hauling 87 mexicans and 12 pallets of lead???
yeah I don't need that. I don't care if a vehicle can do that. I buy tools made for the job they're used for. I wouldn't use a 1" impact to tighten valve cover, and I wouldn't use a 1/4" impact to break loose a hub nut. Different tools for different tasks. Dumb fuck.
