just get an r4 + hwr, set it up according to the forums for your area, and never look back

Ya, haven't gotten a ticket in my race car since I set R3 up.
I'm not speeding like a crazy person.
But my car gets a ton of attention and cops will absolutely grab me in a pack of Cars going 80mph on the highway.

why would you get pulled over for doing the speed limit?

I feel like I don't need one of these, I'm more worried about speed cameras these days. Neither Google Maps or Waze has even a fraction of them marked. Only having a rear plate helps a little, but it's still easy to blow by one without noticing it.

Radar detectors also warn you about speed cameras.

Even modern IR/computer vision cameras? Guessing that's what HwR is for. Do you know if it works with Android Auto?
Anonymous No.28694353 [Report] >>28694367
>>28694332
Yeah, they're marked in a GPS-based database that updates every few months.
No AA for HwR but you can make it notify you about nearby reports with audio ducking (like with navigation apps). That's all you really need it for
Anonymous No.28694355 [Report]

Yes, it detects radar emissions

My r4 worked out of the box and filters out all ka falses so far. Never let me down yet, though I can't speak to other bands since law enforcement only uses ka where I live

Yeah, but when I've tinkered with it before it seems like a really full featured navigation app. I think I'm just going to try find an old 7-8 inch android tablet with a removable battery that I could just run off USB power.
Seems like a more versatile option than any 3rd party android auto thing I've seen, while still having a more usable screen size than my phone.
Anonymous No.28694395 [Report] >>28694407
>>28694367
It doesn't provide navigation/routing though, so you'd rather have Waze or Google Maps as the active window unless you're on a super long highway or have a super short commute.
Unless you're talking about having two different screens which is kinda based

If it had AA support I'd be able to switch between it and Google Maps. Guess I still could if I'm just running the regular android apps.
>Unless you're talking about having two different screens which is kinda based
I wasn't until you gave me the idea lol
Maybe throw the turn by turn up on my phone when I need it. Not sure though, the goal is to make it feel like a helicopter cockpit. All the info I could want available at a glance while staying unobtrusive. Having a 7-8 inch screen running android auto is almost perfect, except all the different map apps fall a little bit short.
