>>2822883 (OP)Nah. Considered it for a while - not so much for learning survival, but as a way to meet people, cause I'm severely autistic - but as far as I could tell, the courses you can get into without knowing people are unrealistic bullshit, and often cater to retarded gear queers.
For example, half the courses I found online stated that you HAD to bring a mid-length (~12cm) knife with a 90° spine, for example, while everybody I know irl who goes out uses a knife with a rounded spine (bcs it hurts your thumb when carving otherwise), and most use a short (~6cm) knife and a hatchet or machete. The "sharp, 90° spine" bullshit is only a meme with people that don't know how to handle a ferrorod, and unironically shave of material like you would on a magnesium block.
And every single one expected people to bring a full-size backpack, a tent, a sleeping bag etc., while I know from experience that I can get by just fine with a small haversack with a jungle bag, a canteen and some food in it. Doing a survival course that assumes full equipment seems kinda retarded to me to begin with - if you can bring all the equipment you want, shouldn't you have a way to bail out or call help long before you need to eat bugs and drink piss?
