Does anyone know what flints are compatible with vintage IMCO lighters? Also what are the best lighters for outdoors?

Zippo flint works fine in mine, its a bit shit of a design though by "modern" standards, my zippo always fires up first strike, my IMCO take like 3-4
Pros
>aesthetics
>"candle" feature
>longer and narrower cylinder, could, theoretically get less evaporation
>storage for an extra flint, you can do this at the bottom of zippos too, but the full may damage it
Cons
>generally unreliable

I like lighters, older ones, funky ones, but,
Just get a big pack of Bic lighters and have them in your coat, your pants pockets/backpack.
And a ferro rod is not a bad backup, way easier for gas stoves

Be aware this whole mechanism is spring loaded
You open it by pressing towards the cylinder

And infront of this slider that says IMCO is where you can store an extra flint without putting strain on the spring

>flints
Literally any standard flint you can get. I'm using Zippo flints in mine.
>best lighters for outdoors
The modern Imcos. Junior or Triplex, doesn't matter. They're pretty much the same as a zippo, except they seal properly and won't dry out overnight.
>>2823231
>my zippo always fires up first strike, my IMCO take like 3-4
Sounds like a user error. Both mine (modern Japanese production Triplex) and my father's (inherited 1920s production Junior) reliably start on the first strike. The only times I ever had trouble were with using "wrong" fluids (30 year old lighter fluid I found in the workshop, where all the volatile compounds were long gone, and ethanol when i ran out of fluid once). But even then, it'd still light on the first strike, the flame just would take a while to gro to full size.
>bic
Bics suck. If you go down the "cheap gas lighter" path, get those electric ignition chink lighters. On the bics, the valve takes way to little force to actuate, and if anything pushes against it in your pocket or pack, they'll be out of fuel even faster than a zippo.

>this slider that says IMCO
Note that not all Imcos have markings there, though. Some of the old austrian ones certainly do not, and iirc, some of the early japanese models (the ones with shell inlay in the grip, I think) also don't. Some people falsely assume that those are copies.

What radio code is that, I thought it all was double digits?
BTW, fun fact: 14/88 means "Take care / hugs and kisses". Only code I remember, actually.

you forgot to post a funny little frog reaction image, and if that is the only code you remember, maybe focus on learning your phone number and address first, first and last name maybe?

So, american police radio? Absolutely something everybody needs to know, considering that there's no speech radio, and morse is the only thing widely available... The only numbers I ever memorized in relation with radio are my maximum power outputs by frequency, and the standard channels for the cities around and the different vehicle classes.

Anyways, if you're spoonfeeding your retardation, might explaining what frogs have to do with it? 14/88 is from the German CB code system, not french. Though even here, sound quality has long been good enough that we generally use codewords instead of morsing numbers.

Get proper lighter fluid, pull the wick out a bit more, and fluff it up. Cut off and charred pieces beforehand. After that, it should light on first strike in normal temperatures, and maybe second or third strike if it's really cold.

Are zippo wicks with the copper wire okay to use in imcos? Or is it better to buy the cotton only imco wicks on Aliexpress.
