I know a lot of people who literally go through the first year without talking to anyone, and I really donโ€™t think I could handle that.

Wrong board, but here's some advice. If you know a lot of people who never talk to a single person their first year, then you are probably exceedingly extroverted, so you'll be fine. I kept to myself my first year. I would recommend joining clubs and organizations, including religious ones, if applicable. As far as non-social stuff goes, be sure to study hard. You are at school to grow as a person, learn, and get training for future employment. Don't party too hard, if that's your thing.
