I'm a lifelong Oregonian who was very familiar with the willamette valley nature around Lane mostly where everyday if I had the time I'd drive an hour or less to some woods and walk trails and whatnot. Recently for reasons I moved to New Jersey (north) and I'm looking for ideal nature spots, I'm aware upstate NY has a ton but before I drive for 3-4 hours I'm looking for places within 90 minutes ideally. Any recommendations? Please no east west nature war I think most of the US has amazing places to see

Colorado is overrated and filled with some of the worst people all year around, actually it's worse in winter thanks to the ski town cestpools. OP would be much better off going back to Oregon.

Such a kneejerk response and an exaggeration every time someone mentions Colorado. It's the result of a dumb meme that you think people there are any worse than people in Oregon, Washington etc.

Yes, the PNW is better than Colorado. Period.
>b-b-but Portland
ONE CITY
ONE FUCKING CITY
The entirety of Colorado's population is garbage and faggots. All of the hippies from the west coast went there for a reason.

thankyou for rec, will go there eventually, part of my reason I'm weary to go far is my car needs a little work cause whenever I get gas it has trouble turning back over to come back on, I have a job but I need a few months before I can afford work

fine, raymondskill falls, bushkill falls ($$), george w childs park (waterfall loop)
and across the street from raymondskill falls you can hike up to nice views either on a singletrack trail along the edge of the ridge, or a doubletrack fire road, but beware the ledges with actual views are tiny and dangerous.

if you're not completely in urban hell pit, nj has some nice little pockets of nature. lots of little brooks and forest patches, especially if you're willing to drive an hour or so south. often they're accessible from some random township's public park trails, if you're willing to skulk around a bit and get your ankles wet. many of these brooks are trout stocked if you get lucky. also sourland preserve is pleasant but no national park
