>>2825432Mm honestly the death is much more likely from doing trails where the sources of information are scant - that's when you encounter "obstacle course" trails where there either is no trail, was one 100 years ago and now it's just lol, or theoretically you can get there but you will spend hours wading through muddy logging roads and/or crawling over/under downed trees
The worst is how most trails kinda seem ok at first then when you get deeper in you get trapped by how fucked up it is. I've definitely turned around for shitty trails though. ALSO I'm newly subscribed to Alltrails PEAK their new ultra-premium subscriber service that promises to offer up to the minute trail conditions and really alltrails/google maps are pretty good if it's a popular enough trail you can sort by date and get an idea of what's going on
I find like the actual custodians of the land - forest service or what have you almost never have any fucking idea how the trail is - so seeing it on video is actually really helpful.
also fwiw i am typically seaching for videos from the last month or week or year at most unless its just a rare trail and I'd like to see any footage of it
the fact that youtube doesn't allow specific date range searches is insane in 2025
