I have been going /out/ on overgrown fields and abandoned properties hunting for seedlings and collecting them in pots.
It is like pokemon but for trees. I am always excited to find and collect a new species.
I have dozens of them now and can not stop.

I really want to do this in the national park behind the house but 1. it's frowned upon (unlegal) and 2. it's hard to find proper seedlings that haven't spread their roots to wide yet

I did do this once many years ago with some wintergreen berries and moss, and a psychotic family member deliberately knocked it over and smashed it while I wasn't home, because some people just cannot allow anyone to have anything of their own

pickerel, before it was destroyed

I intend to plant transplant my trees after they grow to the limits of the pots, I just need to find a location to reforest.

they are harder to not transplant lol
if you dig one out to get rid of it you have to either chop it into small pieces or burn it or else itll grow in your compost pile
