PFAS and PFCs etc are horrific poisons, but are on almost all outdoor gear.
Companies are now saying things like "we don't intentionally had any of those chemicals to our products anymore" but don't explain why they are taking this weasel-worded approach.
Fjallraven seems like the most straight-forward company that simply says they never used any such things.
But they moved production of all their stuff to third world shitholes and the quality took a big hit as a result.
They should now be called FAILraven.

Is there a company that is doing everything right? That is, making their backpacks, tents, and clothing out of good materials that aren't poisoned AND producing it in real countries with fully human workers that don't fuck it up?

Is there actually any real problem with wearing clothes manufactured using PFAS/PFCs?
Obviously ingesting them ain't great but there are plenty of substances out there which you wouldnt want to eat but don't cause any effects from external exposure.

There are significant concerns from external exposure. A lot can seep through skin, either simply through the membranes of healthy normal skin such as chemicals this small, or through sweat glands, or small abrasians. Similar to plastic or polyester underwear effects on test by contact with skin, and those plastics are bigger compounds. Same is true of plastic material shirts or socks even.

Also op to answer, no. The only white people who can make all their gear clean and natural is us. Gear companies, especially for tents, cant draw enough of the market which just wants UL plastic crap, and i get it. You may find some etsy type seller or elk outfitters. Im not aware of any company who does it all avoiding the poison materials. If anyone does, let us know.

If you live in Australia there's One Planet. Their factory is in Melbourne in their prices are pretty much on par with the other brands like osprey.
